can anyone explain paypal to me? i am using it for my store, but had no idea how it works. for example: if a customer pays through paypal using his visa, does it mean that i need to have visa to accept the money? or will paypal accept the payment on my behalf and credit it to my account. i am confused, if paypal allows me to accept payment from so-and-so credit cards, so all i have to do is install the payment module on my store and start accepting payment for that credit card. its that simple?
Yes, it's that simple. You don't need a credit card to accept payments. You'll need a bank account to transfer your paypal funds to.
Paypal is super easy. As long as you have your Paypal account you don't care how a custmer pays...PayPal worries about that. You do not need to sign up for Visa or whoever.
ok, thx. now thats easy. what credit cards do paypal accept? does anyone knows of a list somewhere? i tried searching google but can't find anything. also, i registered a test account and tried to checkout, the paypal page says i need a paypal account for the payment and shows a registration form. i watch the demo video at paypal and it claims that no such account is needed. any ideas? sry, i know i should ask paypal help but they took 3 days to reply the other time.
Well, a member needs to add their credit card into Paypal in order to use them. Currently, they accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards. You cannot actually register a test account because that is against TOS.
erm, i meant the test account as in...the account i registered at my online shopping cart (to test the registration and stuff), not for the paypal. thx for the credit card info. so customers still need a paypal account to send the money over then?
Well, they do not need to have a paypal account at the time of the purchase. If they are not a current paypal account holder, they will be made to sign up for one at that time. They will however need to be from a paypal supported country.
