Feedback I don't know where to post anymore

    I'm truly and honestly stumped.
I'm almost scared to make a topic anymore in fear of being banned.
I know we can't make posts regarding infractions but I'm more of referring them to my question here.
I wrote an article on building a successful money making website.
Do I post in general business or general marketing or SEO?
I made a post in general marketing about my website contest and it got moved to buy/sell/trade and got an infraction.
This post had to do with marketing. Marketing your website in a way that will draw visitors. Although I could have explained my intent a little better, from my understanding the marketing forum is meant for you to discuss ways of gaining visitors and recognition. This was my way and I was going to follow it up with results (almost like a campaign).

Now the whole point I'm trying to get across is the 5-10 words on the descriptions don't say much at all. With a site so obsessed, it seems, over rules why are there no rules in each board?

When I see this, "General category for marketing related topics." I assume that anything relating to marketing goes. Campaigns, discussions, ideas, etc.
My post I didn't mean to have as a freebie as I'm sure hardly anyone on this website has a tour yet and a need for accessories. I wanted feedback on the idea, the method.
That's just my two cents. If a board has no rules can you break the rules in it?

My suggestion would be to write meaningful title to your threads. A thread titled: My Website Contest, sounds like a contest and is naturally moved to contest area or freebies depending on payout.

From this statement I can not tell what aspects of building a successful website is embraces in your article. If it is covers a smorgasbord of ideas, I would post in general business, if emphasis is on marketing a successful website I would post in marketing category or if emphasis is on SEO, I would post it in search engine optimization category.

A single infraction for thread started in the wrong category, is not going to result in a ban for anyone.

Tell us a little more about emphasis and let someone advise you further.

Me too, I noticed mods aren't as strict in the General chat section so I'm posting there but it's not even why I come on DP and it sucks how we can *never* post in the BST section. I'm hoping this is just a phase and that everything will go back to normal one sweet day...
