Please help :( I've noticed a dramatic change in one of my website's rankings (don't know if this is the right term). I have a Joomla website and just a few days ago, Google can still "find it" and in fact, my website is on the first page of the search results. Unfortunately, just overnight actually, it can no longer be found. As a result, the traffic has dropped dramatically and I don't know what to do! I have erased most of the content that I added ever since the change, by the way. Any tips please? :(

Your Joomla site is having problems but you only have 2 Wordpress sites in your signature and you wonder why you don't get help?

The info you provided is as useful as a waterproof tea bag.

My Joomla site suffered major SERP decreases as well. I'm almost sure its because of duplicate content. Joomla likes to make loads of URL pointing to the same content, this to Google is duplicate content as far as its aware.

During the last update, they must have clamped down on it. I'm working hard to remove all the duplicate problems at current, I've fixed a few thousand today and I expect to finish it tomorrow and get reindexed by Google within the next 2 weeks, so if I find it was the answer before you, I'll post here. :)

Thank you very much, Chinchilla :) I'll also check my Joomla website for duplicate content. What software program are you using to do this? So far I know only of Copyscape.

You can use Google webmaster tools, if you haven't signed up to it, I suggest you do :p If you have, go to diagnostics and go to content. :)

I'd put your content back straight away, it's nothing to do with you changing your content. It's a common problem and google rankings change all the time. The main thing that effects it are backlinks, you need to build as many as possible to your site by posting iun do follow forums and blogs. This happens to everyone, so it's not something you specifically have done, just keep building backlinks and your ranking will come back
