Hello everyone. I am promoting a program that is paying me per lead. Now I am trying to get to the front page of google, but I am confused. I was willing to spend a max 3.00 cpc to get the front page and I am still on like page 4. Affiliates who are promoting the same program as I are on the front page of google search, but how? Anything above $3.00 cpc and your loosing money, it is not worth promoting the program. The question is how are other affiliates getting to the front page of google search when I know google is charging such a high price for the keywords or terms? They're loosing money. I just don't get it, $3.00 cpc is not good enough, I even tried $5.00 cpc and that is still not good enough to get to the front page. I still have a lot to learn. Thanks
You probably think that the position is only set by the bid price but this wrong. What determine your ad position is: bid price, CTR% history, landing page relevance and another factors. For example: if your CTR is 1% and your bid is $3.00 maybe someone that has CTR of 5% and bid of $1.00 is getting a better position compared of yours. Also are your sure that you can pay $3.00 ppc for a 2~5% conversion rate? What kind of business do you promote that worth to pay up to $150.00 per lead?
Quality score https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=21388 reflects 1. CTR 2. relevance of your ad text, 3. historical keyword performance, 4. the quality of your ad's landing page, and 5. other relevancy factors. Probably most relevant to you is #4- tho I'm guessing- but if your site/page isn't a value-added thing, if it's just a thin affiliate thing, then they won't be ranking you up there as high.
in my opinion write a better ad is the killer: as it improves #1, #2 and #3 automatically. Also what is more easy? Write a better ad or adequate a web site to subjective rules? What you need to do regarding web site is to direct the destination url to the more relevant address that you have on your site.
anyway, write better ads. I am #1 and #2 (blue center ads) in a lot of affiliate programs that I promote due the way that I keep improving the ads.
