I no longer do directory submission to 1000s of directories, it is because, in google webmaster tools, I only see 10 to 15 backlinks from directories. So i will suggest you to submit to some high PR directories instead of 1000s of low pr dir.

 

I don't agree with you. It helps you gain link popularity and traffic. What else you need from it?

 

Why waste your time even further by posting in a pro directory forum.

 

Google does not recognize all the directories that you submit your website.
Out of 1200 submissions to 1,200 directories submitted since December at about 10 directories/day, around 1000 are accepted and less than 50 are recognized by google, so whats the use?
i think article submission is better then directory submission. don't you think so?

 

And you think submitting same article to thousands of directories can help you much? Google does not like duplicate content either. Oh wait I know you are ready to write 1000 unique article instead.

it depends on the competitive keywords you are optimizing for.
Just some blind 2000+ directory submission, will only increase your domain popularity and that is it.

But yes, directory submission works, but it depends on the case

If you would check to see if the topic page you will be submitted to is cached you would save a lot of time submitting to directories that as you say are not recognized by Google.

Depends, if you submitted to 1000 low quality spam directories in 1 or 2 days, it is probably not helpful.

 

I see hundreds of back links from directories in my Google WMT account. Some of them used to be low pr / nothing directories that have grown in popularity. So I just keep submitting to a few every day. In the long run it's paid off for me.

To the OP !! Keep in mind that you should use multiple anchor texts and descriptions to get maximum benefit from directory submissions. Same title and description in all directories might be considered spam by google algorithms..
