I don`t understand why people are so eager about buying a certain domain on a certain tld, mostly on .com A domain on .fdsgfsd can be 10000x more valuable then the same name on .com if it is developed properly and has good rankings, generates a nice revenue and so on. Then why everyone loves .com so much ? Thanks!
A good name on .com would have good resell value... even without any site development effort behind it! Regards, RightMan
I see nothing wrong with alternative TLDs including ccTLDs, but the main issue is that the content usually needs to be tailor to that country if it is a ccTLD when it comes to SERPS. I know that Google now allows you to change the target country in their Webmaster Tools, but it just seems like .COM generally rules. Viva la ccTLD!
.com domains are very famous and so their resale value is higher. but now the trend is changing hope there will be good value for .net domain...
Its because they are the most widely used domains and people got used to it.... Many still think that a website always ends with .com...
.com is popular from very begining that's why no other TLD can beat it. Although I too thing the same that SERP doen't matter with TLD but as a user prespective it matters a lot.
Yes a .com is very popular because its the one that's original and most commonly used and recognized.
COM NET ORG (info, biz) gTLDs is a universal standard. The CC TLD domains are seen in as local country searches. If you have a .de TLD you should have a server IP in Germany as seen a match for Google. It can affect your ranks if your ip is in the states and you front it with a .de address. However the gTLS's match ip in google globally
Just giving a small additional answer: because some people are "automatically" type .com when they go for a certain website. Securing your .com name prevents your regular visitors from entering wrong website. This may lead to: 1) mad visitor for not finding what they want. and 2) you have your visitor stolen if the other website has better development and content.
I suppose because .COM domain name extension is used by default. If someone tells you: "go to digitalpoint" What would you do? I suppose you would type in into the address bar: digitalpoint.COM
because .com is a global extension abd can also attract more traffic as compared to .net or .org. for e.g. while writing the url in the address bar of any web browser you just need to type in the name as yahoomail and hit ctrl+enter; you see .com is taken by default.
