part of every article of mine has some copypasted stat data from public organizations, i dont think there are any copyrights on those. is it bad for ranking?
But my whole articles are wrapped around those statistics, it's what I write about in the first place. How do I use public data without hurting my rankings? Retyping those numbers in different sheets/spreads?Simplifying data saying not 3 867 342 but 3.9 ?
That will be copyright infringement and duplicate content. Try to mix up the words and rewrite the articles in your words.
It would be copyright infringement if they don't allow their content to be syndicated. At the very least you won't have any original exclusive content, which sucks.
Assuming the data is in the public domain as you say, and/or you have permission to reproduce it, why not embed the data graphically with as screenshot, i.e. with an jpeg image or similar. Failing that, if the exact figures are not needed, do as you suggest above, if you want anything to be indexed.
Well everything is indexed, I can find any of my articles through google search. Many of 2-3 words searches leave me on the first page. And in order to use that data I use a special filter to make it suitable for my needs , provided by that public organization, so technically those particular graphics do not exist anywhere.. But I definetely am thinking about doing it jpeg Also I checked google webmaster tools it says I dont have an un-indexable content .
Yes, you may well be indexed, but if G decides at some point your have too much duplicate content on there, your site will definitely suffer at some point, but it could take a while to show up.
