I can't understand why my site isn't ranking - please help

Hi all,

In the last month I SEO'd a site for a friend who is a dog trainer (www.triciawills.co.uk) but changing everything it still isnt ranking for 'Dog training Exeter/Dog trainer Exeter' and I can't understand why?
It's not the most competitive area, yet I'm still not ending up near/at the top of the SERPS.

For some reason the site apparently fell in the SERPS in March/April 2013 but i can't understand why. The only thing I can think of is that the site's blog hasn't been updated for 1 year, but i didn't realise that 'fresh' content could make such a big difference.

If you had any ideas how I could increase the site's visibility, I would be very grateful.

I'm pretty sure the Penguin update was after the drop in rankings, and this doesn't seem to make sense as the site doesn't have duplicate copy or spammy links (that I know of!).

 

Dog trainer Exeter - nº 4 = A local business
Dog training Exeter - nº 5 = A local business

Your site won't appear a second time for those searches if you are prominent listed in the local business section.

Do you mean the group of 6 local listings?
Ashclyst Dog Training appears at the top and again in the local search so surly my site would as well?

Also my site is more user friendly then Ashclyst, yet they still outrank by far - is this simply because of DA?
I really can't understand why my site is nowhere to be seen (apart from the local listings).

 

Have you compared your link count and your link profile with that of your competition?
What about domain/site age and PR?

 

What did you do for SEO on that website ?

My rapid analyse to help your site ranks higher on the two keywords you want :

- metas titles looks fine but not well enough optimised
- Content is not optimised at all for the 2 keywords you want
- Blog contains good unique article but still not optimised
- Poor backlink profile optimisation (I even found a backlink from a website with a 100% duplicate article of the blog.

Work on that and the website will ranks surely better.

Again, I repeat my question : what did you do for the SEO on this website ?

 

Try Google Keywords for suitable keywords. May be your searching query are wrong

 

According to me is fresh content is always matter. So please try to update your blog on weekly basic And also do Social media for site.

Glad to see you've solved your issue. What was missing is Local listings and after you've added the site is on the front page.
