I finally decided to do something with my domains. I just made a site out of edomainsbay.com. I guess I'll put my addiction to good use. It's a basic auction site and maybe I'll do some mods in the future, but it's my first step to acutally doing something with the domains I have.

When I see all the folks looking to buy sites which have been around a few years I wish I had done more of that :)

Yeah, me too. I'm sure I could've just made some basic sites and left them and let some traffic and pr build and I'm sure they'd be worth more than whatever they are worth now.

I never buy domains just for selling, but when I need a new domain, and start making combinations, I always find many domains that I like. How does this end? Buying them all...

I say: I will make a website x for this one, and a website y for that one, but with days with only 24 hours, the task log never ends :(

    P.S. I think I have almost 200 domains...

I have 35, just sold a few here on DP. The good thing is that I haven't buy any new domains since Nov-2005. But I'm sure I will start buying again soon. :)

Confession- I have a few too many domain names too!

Do you think the day could ever come when all of the good .com's will be totally used up?

No, no, good domains expire everyday :) And I've seen them being snatched for thousands of dollars...

I recently discovered that enom.com runs reverse auctions for names their customers may allow to expire. Some get many bids but others languish. There are thousands if you are willing to take the time to look through them.

(Just in case you were having trouble finding names to look at :)

If I am able to maintain my determination through the redemption period I will be under 200 for the first time in years.

I discovered yesterday I could point the DNS, set up the hosting on one of my cheap reseller accounts, upload wordpress2, configure it, and write a couple of quick posts in about 20 minutes. Once that is done it should be easy to make a list of sites and add a new post every so often.

Obviously they are not great sites, but if I was interested enough to register a domain it's not difficult to write a little. If I needed to I might even buy one of those cheap vaultage packages with a few hundred low PR links to throw at them.

Then the domain can mostly sit there and age. Kind of like fine wine :)

It seems that we discovered the same yesterday :)
I really never wanted to use Fantastico, because sometimes the versions weren't updated automatically. But I used it yesterday, and it was great!

I used to own 200 domains, most of them junk. Then someone's shown me what to do with them (like building sites), and I was cured :)
