Maybe there are some country-specific restrictions that mean the likes need to be obtained, but I guess "old members" is subjective (for an "old member" you don't have many posts). I guess we'll find out over the next few days what other behind-the-scenes anti-spam stuff there is.
I'm all for preventing spam and crap posts but i have been a decent honest non-spamming member her for 3 years and now i don't have sufficient privileges to reply to threads in the BST forums, that is absolutely bloody ridiculous..what the hell is all that about??
Uh... yes you do. Unless you are trying to reply in one of the sections that are being done away with (there would be a giant notice at the top of the page).
aah right, im trying to post in the script section of BST the big notice says "This area has an official marketplace now." and a button that says "Enter Marketplace" if i click it it goes to a "Digitalpoint error" page, has it not been set up yet?
I needed something good to look at when I was testing retina graphic support (zoom in with your browser, and it shouldn't pixelate like you would expect normally).. heh
i used to use the buy sell and trade allot, been on here for over a year now and am usually a daily user. now the rules have changed I believe in order for me to post now i need also 3 likes I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO GIVE LIKES, (used to be reputation) There is no tutorial for this or for most of the new site, What gives it just seems like older/existing members are being punished.
Those eligible to give likes will find the Like button beside the Reply button just below the signature on the right side of the page.
What if I only want to buy something? not selling... should I need to be an established member first before I can post my WTB thread?
Heh same situation here. I've been here off and on for 3 years, only made a handful of posts as I usually just PM'd those I wanted to do business with, but now find I can't post to buy a new logo design for a client. That's unfortunate.
The forums are full of people who have posted WTB threads, got the scripts, voucher, ebook or whatever and then never paid. We're trying to minimise the chances of that happening. People neglect to view the posting history of the other person and look at the post count as if it was some sort of assurance of quality. If someone has 30 genuinely helpful posts they should be viewed quite differently to someone who has found 30 threads on cricket and declared that X is their favourite team.
Not true at all. In fact it has been proven to create more spam. because users will want to just create any post at all to get there post count up so they can hit the 25 post mark.
I appears there is no longer a 25 post mark, now you have to make just a few quality posts that someone actually thinks were worth posting. That should really cut down spam.
Ya sadly. However, hopefully it will be a much better system then the last. As far as I can see, only established members can also "like" a post.
You mean like the new thread where some member is offering cash payments to the first 3 posters, just fishing for a "like".
Pretty sure I've already banned about 10 users for begging for Likes. We just treat it as spamming our system.
