Hi there i have been pr1 with my domain but since then ive done something and its been a year now and the bad link to my domain still remains on google which never existed and for some reason it is now stuck in the cyber world. Ive done redirects page not found, i have even submitted it to google to be removed but nothing! The ugly domain still remains in google, what can i do? I dont want to post my link here to make it any worse but look here: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=desiforum.co.uk&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB its the first link "/~giga/forums" the giga bit never existed and i really dont know how to remove this.
Just 301 redirect it to your homepage. You will need to let google spider it first (remove from your robots.txt)
Did you use Google Webmaster tool? You can use it to remove urls, of course this take time, but I have used it and in months they remove the urls Best, Jakomo
Well there is no hosting behind that domain now.. its just a redirect. But it had webspace before, and i have tried webmaster tools and a redirect it still dosent come off google.. So now i have no hosting under that domain its just parked and being forwarded. So what are my other options other than redirect? I'll give the webmaster tools another go, but i doubt it'll work.
Aha! Well, that's probably it. Sounds like it's not being forwarded with a 301 redirect...it's happening via some other method. Get a 301 on it and you'll be good. But that http:///www.../~giga/forums address, it just comes up as 404 at the moment. That's OK, too - Google will eventually remove pages that come up as 404. Removal via Google webmaster tools has always worked for me, though. best, Denise
The problem is you are blocking spidering using robots.txt so google can't see if you give it a 404, 301 or anything.
