The rates of each click will be different for each ad.

Dear Its totly depends on wht was the bid done by advertiser on that ad on that perticular day. Even u can observe changes in cost after some minutes as well :)

If Google had a specific pay rate for each click, then all these high paying keywords you see floating around the market, would have no relevance at all.:)

It does depend on the bid as mr. extreme said...
What kind of site do you have BTW? It may help in analysis

It depends on the content on the page and bids from advertisers.

Some times you may $ 0.02 per click and sometime $0.20.

I agree, 5 cents for 3 clicks is pretty low. I usually get about 7 cents a click :)

A helpful way to find out what a given keyword is currently being bid for on Adsense is to use the Adwords Keyword Checker tool. Go there, and then in the "Choose data to display:" area, select "Cost and Ad position estimates" and then type in the keywords you want to check, and this will tell give you approximate Adsense Maximum payout rates. The amount you get paid by Google, obviously, will differ, but it's one way to find out the maximum you could be paid for a given keyword.

    Hope this helps.

I think the time of day might affect rates, too, cuz advertisers can control what times their ads run, and some big bidders pull their ads after a certain time at night.

Each individual ad is valued differently depending on the adwords bid.
