I can't find a solution anywhere else so I thought I'd try here. I'm having a little trouble accessing both of my sites (they reside on the same server). Ever since around midnight last night they appeared to go offline. I figured I'd wait until the morning to see if the server fixed itself, but it didn't. I did a little more investigating and found that they load perfectly when accessing them through a proxy or another connection other than mine. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so, how did you fix it? I've contacted the host's support, but with me being totally impatient I don't want to have to wait until tomorrow for a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Liam
run ipconfig /flushdns from your window command prompt to flush your dns entries and try again. If that fails run a tracert on the hostname for your website. If that fails to reach your server goto dnsstuff.com and check to make sure your DNS records have been synchronised. by doing it in that order you can learn a bit more about where the issue is starting from. If you don't mind my asking what are the domain names you are trying to access? We may be able to give you an idea from other locations. BTW Liam, i am in a DC here in Brisbane so I might be able to find out any upstream issues if there are any at the moment.
Thanks mate. I ran through your suggestions and nothing seems to have worked. This is one of my sites. I just went to my neighbors house and they were able to access it fine. It's pretty frustrating!
fine for me too, i'll run a few pings and tracerts through our network to see where it resolves. There could also be an issue with your ISP
Much appreciated buddy. I've just sent Bigpond an email requesting to change my IP... I might give them a call now actually. Thanks once again.
Unfortunately no. BigPond technical support have tried to help, but couldn't find a solution. They've said that the problem was caused by my host, which they should be resolving by tomorrow morning. For now though I'm getting by... proxies work wonders.
