I Bought A Talking Lady From LiveFace - Here Are My Thoughts

First off, I paid the list price of $259. That's a lot, but I really invested time and research into my product, so I want to promote it well.

My purpose, obviously, is to increase conversion ratio.

You can see the finished product at ClearSkinSecrets.com. (Affiliates welcome.)

    Now for the take-aways...

The whole purchase/checkout process is well done. You get to preview the model before you buy.

The resolution of the video and audio quality exceeded my expectations.

The deliverables include an .flv video file and a javascript config file.

Here's where I ran into some static:

    1. The Javascript config file is not well-commented. The comments are confusing. You can mush through it, but LF should make it easier on us sinners.

    2. They neglect to say that your domain should be entered like this:

    http://www.ClearSkinSecrets.com/

MUST HAVE a closing forward slash...I lost a lot of time on that - why don't they make that clear?!

    3. There is no option to have the video appear in a full-color, paused state, with a blinking Play Now button. I think this is the optimum setup, since many web surfers prefer not to be surprised by sound on the page load.

Basically, LiveFace only enables A. Play on load, or B. Have the video appear paused and 50% faded, with a static Play Now button.

I asked customer service about this, and they said it could be specially made for me for $500. I was surprised to be asked to fund a feature for them that all of their customers could benefit from.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase from LiveFaceOnWeb.com. Hopefully they'll get the other things right in the future. For example, there are far cheaper options like LivePitchOnline.com

Thanks for the review. I'm sure it will help someone out and this is valuable!

I personally hate being surprised with audio from the page and much more prefer "play" button.

Great job on the site. That is one helluva sales page.

If you did the copywriting yourself, congratulations.

But them charging more to have it specially made is BS. I would have just dropped them, right then and there.

Seems like a big investment. I hope it pays off. I find that some of those types of things seem to annoy people and they close the page. Please come back and let us know how it paid off for you.

    Thanks guys.

I wrote all of the copy myself, so that means a lot to me. Writing is probably my favorite part of the process.

I think the faded image with Play Now would be fine. At least you let them know that some of their customers might prefer more options.

Thanks for the description of the process. It should help some others who are challenged by it, particularly the requirement that the URL be terminated with a slash.

Hanzoom, I included the video with the launch of the site, so I can't say whether it gave a boost.

Kelso, the LF logo goes with the Control Bar. I can add or remove them only in tandem.

SwimFinn, I decided to go with the Paused-Faded option. I will probably split test as well.

I also put her in the upper right - it's an unusual effect, but I think it compensates for her being faded.

Let me know what you think--

I like the upper right location. It's way cool because you can scroll down the page while she is talking and the video floats down the page with you. Nice website.

love it, great copy, I'd be interested to know your conversions? I think the video lady adds to the message. Is this your own product?

Quick suggestion... Move the lady from right to upper left side... I'm sure more people will click play button because it's proven that peoples tend to focus on upper left zone... It's the very hot zone. (Source: Marketing Sherpa and my personal experience)

    Anyway,

I would also like to know what is the conversion rate after you added the talking lady. I've been thinking to add something similar on few of my sites. Do let me know.

Moved her to the upper left, I do like it better there. I'm happy to share sales data with anyone via PM, it has been extremely positive, with no returns.

She's very nice - looks like you got the flagship model for your site :)

If you're interested in a smaller model selection, but a much lower price point, I started a company to create website spokesmodels, and we're going to first make it available exclusively to e-marketing professionals like Digital Point members.

We just created this DP account, so I can't activate the link, but it's TheHypeIsRight + .com/promo.

The promo price is just $39 for 50 words and there's NO logo to get in the way of your message.

    Good luck!
