I bought a super sketchy website on flippa - Any ideas?

OK, so I bought this website, autowp.org. When I bought it, it was receiving no traffic. I complained to him. Shortly thereafter, traffic poured in. I asked him what happened, and he said the website was just messed up and he fixed it. I waited a few days. The traffic subsided and I complained. Same thing happened.

So I went to AWStats and 99.8% of the traffic is from "Direct address / Bookmark / Link in email..."

Where the hell is he generating the traffic from?
    Any ideas?

    Thanks

oh btw "him" and "he" is the seller.

Talking to him now, and he said he used adwords. Do adwords clicks fall into that category? Thanks

After he received the email from you he might have bought some traffic online to make you think that there actually was traffic to the site which would explain why there was a sudden burst.

Buying traffic online falls into that category on awstats?

Also, I got a bunch of adsense clicks from it. Would paid-for traffic click adsense ads?

I believe hes trying to cheat you into believing the website actually gets traffic, when it really doesn't. I'd say to return the website.

That means most of the traffic is coming from type-ins, and possibly Adwords - it would fall in "Link in email" since Awstats is different than the other stat programs.
