If you hit you dog it will fear people and never be a good protection dog. Puppies should be corrected by grabbing the loose skin on the scruff of the back of their neck and give a light shake while saying a firm NO (Not hard, just enough to get its attention) This is instinctive in dogs as a correction, this is how its mother corrected it. Then give it something positive to finish. Like its toy and tell it good dog So it learns the bad behaviour gets a correction and good behaviour gets a reward. I feel for the dog, although I don't particularly like Dobermanns, it's still one of the most likeable creatures on earth, a dog. If it was a boxer, boy would I have been pissed off...

I think its a bit sick to even contemplate throwing your doggie in the river! Maybe its biting you coz you punch it. Puppies need a lot of dedication and affection, expect your new pup to bark, make noise and bite when you 1st get it. If you dont want it the dog will know and he will start playing up. Dogs are for life not just to annoy neighbours! I hope you get trained not to hit your dog. ~cuteek~
