    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

I bet nobody here makes > USD5,000 per month in Adsense

this is probably an example of those "ugly" and successful sites, assuming the $650/day claim is true.

*lol* Wouldn't a visible border take away all of the "mystique" of that site though?

Actually if I was making $650 a day from that one site I'd wanna be sure I didn't jeopardize it by not sticking to the ToS. Why would anyone want to risk that? $650 a day is reasonable money in my book. One day $650+, next day nothing. Too risky.

BigBob, as long as you have border between the ads and the thumbnails (doesn't matter whether the border belongs to the ads or the thumbnails), you're alright.

I very much doubt that. The site is crap. He has what, 5 people in his forums? You don't make $650/day off that. Only kids under the age of 12 would spend more than 5 seconds on that site after arriving at it via the search engines. Notice that the guy is so lacking in web designing acumen he actually repeated his website layout with his other site. LMAO.

    Hey! I do that. :)

I try to use the same layout for as many sites as possible, because it's easier to maintain.

Oh, but wait... I am completely lacking in web acumed. d'oh!

I gotta hire a web designer.

I don't know about maintaining them unless you use to same scripts, but if is definiately easier to do it like this is you are producing a large amount of sites. This is because you have one design and then just change the words on the site and keep the design.

You don't make money when people stay on your site, you make it when they click on the ads and leave. I believe it - did you check the searches per day for "fast cars" and "cool cars"? He's #1 on both in Google, and he's got to be getting a steady stream of visitors.

Based on his google ranking, it is not unlikely to achieve what he is talking about.

I must agree, his site is not the best looking site, but it ranks well within google and also have an alexa ranking of under 30,000. If he can get people to click then he will earn quite a good amount.

I know alexa is not accurate but anyway I thought that I would just mention it.

I have read https://www.google.com/adsense/terms and I see nothing that says you must do this implicitly or explicitly.

Could you give me a quote from https://www.google.com/adsense/terms that leads you to believe you need to do this?

Yeah I just saw that thread on page like 40. :p
As much as that may be the case their TOS makes no mention of it that I could see. Nothing about images, borders, etc. Doesn't mean they don't enforce it, but it would be nice if it was legally stated.

Yes, yes, yes, his site is at the top 1 for "fast car" and "cool cars", blah blah blah. That still doesn't translate into 6k/day on a site that crappy. You kids need to stop being so gullible. High serps doesn't automatically translate into high earnings.

650 a day, not 6k. :) And I think it's reasonable given those rankings and the kind of ads they are. I'm not sure if you've ever tried that kind of ad placement (a lot of people seem skeptical about it until they do) but I would bet he's got very high click-through rates.
