I believe I finally found a niche

    Alright,

After reading a lot of posts about making money, niche marketing and such. Each of those articles said find a niche that has low competition and have high search queries using google adwords keyword tool.

I finally think I figured it out. I like gaming and I found a micro niche in the gaming category that gets a rough 60k searches a month yet there is no competition.

When I think about the niche that I found. I had to evaluate if this the niche for me as I've went to doing vague fat burning niches and such, so then I asked my self how many hours do I play "my niche" games a day? I literally spend over 5 hours playing "the niche" games. I'm actually good at it.

Now I guess it's time to put my knowledge to practical usage and turn what I like into money.

I think my process will be something of the sort.

    1. Buy Domain That is very close to my niche
    2. Use wordpress because wordpress loves these kinds of blogs
    3. Basic SEO (in and outbound seo)
    4. Article Marketing
    5. Have fun at what I love doing daily.

Am I missing anything? I was thinking putting maybe ONE adsense ad up "banner" only as my niche there are a lot of games for this niche that advertise in this category.

Thanks for reading, and more thanks for helping me out.

    -Lamonte.

I find that #5 is as important as any point you mention.
You'll find some great knowledge on this site for way to improve your rankings.

I would add one point, and that would be from the analytic side.
Check out Google Trend and Yahoo Buzz daily to see whats going on in search.
If you see a topic or theme that is hot that day, and is something your interested in, might be worth writing some of your articles/blogs within that as well.
    best of luck...

One thing - there might be a reason that there is not competition (it might not be a profitable niche).

You can still build up a lot of traffic and once you have a lot of traffic, you should be able to make it profitable anyway, especially if you get free traffic. You might want to think about what kind of visitors will be visiting the site, and then promoting offers that might interest them, even if it's not related to the niche. For example, if it's mainly young people visiting, you might want to promote a ringtone offer.

It is good that you were able to find a niche close to your heart. At least you would be able to do justice writing on this topic.

If the competition is less, it is good for you. However, it also means that you will have to think out of the box to make money out of it.

Best of Luck with your new journey....

All of the advice given above are definitely valid and helpful! I would just add that you might want to check via Google adWords how much the keywords will fetch for your Google AdSense clicks.

I don't think Google Adsense works effectively on online gaming site. This is because your viewers are busy with your online games, and they might even be distracted with your ads.

I think it will be better if you sell ad space on your site.

    Just my 2 cents.

Don't worry if you are "missing something"... if the point #5 is true you'll do fine and can learn on the way.

If you want some tips on how I got my gaming site traffic up, check out this pretty popular thread - it has some good points.
