    I'm beating Matt Cutts for the term "SEO" which he has in his title. I'm also beating forums.searchenginewatch.com, forums.seochat.com, iwebtool.com, webconfs.com, forums.seroundtable.com, seoelite.com, V7N and a stack of other "professionals" for the term.

    The domains under a year old, actually February it was blank. I only started on the term 5 weeks ago after hitting page 1 for "SEO Company" and finding the traffic was poor. Total cost almost zero and a half hearted effort, as you can see i havn't even bothered to change my sig link to "SEO" to boost my anchor text.

    With a reasonable budget, and actually trying i see no reason i couldn't take top 10 for SEO.

    Almost zero on advertising considering the overall scheme of things, yep i've purchased stuff like article and directory submissions etc to free up my time and a couple of links *cough* for traffic *cough*

    However i've swapped my services and been rewarded with a link, to cut costs dramatically. Still good results given the lack of effort and finances invloved as i know what a few people have poured in to it that rank way behind me for "SEO" and "SEO Company".

    Actually i was thinking about your suggestion on beating Matt Cutts for the term "Matt Cutts" and how it would be a complete waste of time... However after thinking about it, it would make a great link bait and i'm sure would be blogged about all over the web. ;)

    So actually it's a great idea, don't know how "doable" it is.. Might have to crunch some numbers later.
