I assume this is the sandbox effect?

I registered my domain 7 months ago. Started uploading files to it about 4 months ago. Didn't even hear about SEO until a month ago, and have been working hard on it as a total SEO newbie for a few weeks. I rank on the front page of google for some of my minor, less competitive keywords. Today, I finally showed up in the rankings for Yahoo and MSN for my main, competitive keyword!! #9 and #14 respectively. Yeah me! However, I'm still not showing up anywhere on google for that main keyword. Is that the sandbox effect, or something else?

Webmasters have claimed that their site will only show for keywords that are not competitive[citation needed]. It appears this effect does not affect new pages unless the domain is in the sandbox.

If your site is under sandbox effect then it will not affect with new changes.

After you get picked up by Google Sandbox it can last anywhere from 6 months to a year and a half for your site to be out of Google. More popular your keywords are more chances you have to be in a Sandbox for a longer period of time. Can you escape Sandbox? I can’t say that because nobody can say that for sure. My suggestion would be to build on your backlinks and overall popularity of your website or a blog. Never rely only on Google, there is a lot of work to do on Yahoo and MSN and I can bet anything you want not all of your traffic comes from search engines unless you run MFA sites. If you get sandboxed there’s nothing you can do about it. Deal with it and continue to develop your website because as soon as you get out of it you’ll rank for your keywords.

I have 3 sites (about 1 year old) and nothing in Google too :( Even more, how I know, few high rank links from relevant resources will help to solve the situation. Is not so?

If your site is sandboxed am sorry to say you will have to wait any where between 6 to 12 months. i dont say that, google engineer has said abt it in a conference . there are ways to avoid sandbox and the bestway is to bring your competetors site down for the specific keyword for which u had ur site penealised (Performing a 302 redirect to one of your high ranking competitors ) and till you are out of sandbox consider running a PPC campaign and work hard with yahoo and msn search engine ranking . it will boost up your confidence for sure .

another way of avoiding sandbox is buying out traffic to each and every page of your site, buying/exchanging links with some high PR links (to the keyword for which you get more hits) and controlling the hit rate of "keyword" for which you can get sandboxed .

one usually gets sandboxed if he attains lots of hit for a page which doesn't have a good PR but gets good amount of traffic, usually this raises the suspicion !!

Everyone says about PR being useless .it isnt useless . if your new site has good SERP but 0 PR .Then you can be in a danger !i guess now everyone can understand the importance of PR
