I keep seeing 30kchallenge.com brought up in various threads here. While I'm glad I made an impact and that you remember the URL please note that I post here and you are welcome to ask me anything, call me an idiot, or just say hi. I just posted a longwinded explanation to the sudden balk on our part in another forum but if you have a specific question I am here. Just ask, I won't bite.
Why did you leave us in the dust for three weeks, from September 17th to October 8th!! That's why we all gave your site up for the dead!! What was that 'development deal' that made you over 30K in one day??!!
It was actually just under within the month timeframe. I gave a long explanation here. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=1646245&postcount=40
I specifically did not collect email addresses or promote anything on the site while it was going on. We lost, now I use it as a personal blog for the most part.
When do you plan to have that site ready where we can get that script that'll bomb us with visitors!!!! Just watch out and make sure you don't see it end up geting sold here for $1.00!!!! I've seen stuff go from $100 from the original creator, down to $1.00 here!!! grrrr!!!!
This is the exact reason it's not available right now. I doubt we will ever hand over the script as it is much too easy to steal php even when encrypted. That is the problem that is taking a long time to work around.
I saw the blog. I wasn't impressed. Just an observation. Both you and "Willie Crawford" lack the image necessary to make me think of you as "gurus".
I love that you were bothered by it enough to click on this thread, read this thread, read the blog (obviously), and comment on it. Cheers.
To be honest I have respect for things like this. 30K challenge - shows that people are not afraid to experiment Good luck. I wasnt sure at first as I didnt read your blog, but after reading it I think you have a good chance of going for this. Just dont give up. How about once you reach 30k - spare me 10k? LOL kidding
That's understandable since it wasn't created for that purpose. While I have been working for myself online since 1999 I usually play in a completely different area than most here. Because I sold actual products (ebay) then moved to affiliate marketing while generating all traffic in house I never had to sell myself to anyone. When you send thousands of sales to a company there is no reason to sell yourself to them as they know who you are by default. Because we generated all traffic in house we've never participated in link exchanges, purchases, or anything of that sort either. Squeeze pages make me want to puke as do the typical sales pitches promising this that or the other. That isn't to say I haven't networked on some level with other webmasters. There are a handful of people that I have shared ideas, techniques, etc with over the years when I noticed them touching on the industries we worked with. I've never mailed a list, or anything of that sort. In fact, nobody ever heard of me aside from those on the forums I frequented but my nicknames there were never tied to the sites that I lived on for years. In short I agree, I am not a "guru" as defined by how popular ones online persona is. It doesn't bother me in the least.
I admire guys like Willie and 30k challenge. Main reasons - both taking ACTION both trying out something new Both are passionate and most of all AMBITION is there. Lets not put 30k challenge down, hes a member of this forum lets applaud him for trying If he fails , so what? He tried!
I sold a handful of sites that took a total of 20 minutes to build (purchasing domains and setting up hosting included) to create. Soon after that we received an offer that nobody here would pass up, 30k challenge or not. It is shaping up to be worth 6 figures / year alone. I wasn't looking for respect nor do I expect it btw. Cheers.
