    You should aim at long tail keywords if you are in a fairly competitive niche. Long tail keywords are much easier to rank for and if you are ranking for several long tail keywords this can easily bring you in a good amount of visitors every single day.

    Really it all depends what niche your in and how competitive your keywords are, but for quick ranking I would target several long tail keywords with your SEO campaigns.

    Long tail keyword selection are always beneficial. Long tail keywords are typically sentences or phrases that contain the gist of keywords optimization plan.

    Long tail and short tail keywords both have their equal importance. If you are looking for quick ranking, then it is good to choose long tailed keywords.

    Lon tailed keywords get ranked easily, but do check their competitions and the number of visitors that they draw. Its no use picking unnecessary keywords just to get ranked easily. That will not benefit you in the long run.

    You should choose the from google keywords tool which keyword that searches more and competition low that's your right keywords for quick ranking.

    Long tail keyword is better than short tail keyword . For example if we choose "web development" as a keyword then web development is high competition in all cases and very tough to target this keyword . But if we use "web development in USA " instead of "web development" .It has low competition and we target this keyword easily and get high rank easily in search engine . So always use long tail keyword in place of short tail keyword .
