    Hi all,

I am thinking of building a English Quotations site, which will have a huge collection of English sayings, Idioms, jokes...etc

There are already many websites on the same topic, so what do you suggest should I make a new site or find some other niche?

    Any suggestion for me?

If you think that building a Quotations/Jokes site would be fun, go for it...you have nothing to lose other than the $10 needed to register a domain.

Do a quotations site, but with quotes translated from other languages - so that the visitors will find something new which isn't present at the already existing ones.

I think it's possible - it's a search engine rich area. People type in quotations constantly - build page rank and you'll be getting 1,000s of students at 4AM working on last minute shakespear papers... Advertise textbooks and other academic tools. Bibliography services would be great for affiliates...

I am just wondering about the copyright considerations...at any rate, you ever thought about niching further...for example...instead of a general quotations site, how about quotes from great preachers...or sports figures....or like someone said...Shakespeare....or ...etc

I think the key is to find a niche that is small enough for you to dominate and yet large enough for it to matter that you are dominating it...

Wow, mate. I had same idea a few months ago too. And I ever started working on it. But then i looked around, there're so many sites with this topic. I stoped my work with that.
Goal is, that topic site doesn't need in often updates.
Bad side is, how to get a good traffic. No many people are looking for the clever quotations of the Great persons in our days.

If you do decide to do it there are packages of thousands of quotes that people sell on DP sometimes. Might be a good way to get started.

    Good luck.
