Hello I have been submitting to directories lately myself.. Lately I have noticed directories that use phpld I think... When I submit there is no "Thank you for submitting your link" or a confirmation email or anything... Im not sure if my links are even submitting lol... Is this normal?
The submission form should show you a confirmation message if your submission was successful - many directory owners have disabled notifications; some due to spam issues so it's not uncommon if you don't receive a submission confirmation notification..
Most directories reply with a 'received' email and then with an 'accepted' email. But some only send one or none. Best to keep a track of those you've submitted to and if you hear nothing search for your link.
I have found that sometimes the confirmation message "Link submitted" message is hard to see/find. Or sometimes doesn't show at all. So most likely, its not you. I have experienced the same thing... Then ofcourse I end up accidentally submitting the same link a couple of times b/c I can't figure out if it is "taking" or not
Well, you can expect to have a delayed "confirmation" mail when your site will be actually reviewed and added or rejected but you must be getting "Link Submitted, Thank you" or "Link submitted, add more link" kind of note on the submit page when you press Submit (continue) button. May be you can list few directories where you are having such issue.
When you see a message such as "Link submitted, add another link", then you know the form is most likely working and your submission has gone through. Sometimes this message is hidden half-way down the page, and it doesn't stand out. The confirmation email is just extra, but not all directories send one out. Few free directories actually bother to send out a rejection email, due to the grief the editors can get as a result. You will usually get notified on acceptance (but not always). Give it a month, then check your submission email inbox. If it isn't full, then you'll know you have been doing something wrong.
