Strangely my blog have no google backlinks nor links that could be found on link:yoursite.com

I am pretty sure there are blogs that linked to me but still no results.

Have anyone faced such a problem before?

Don't care about what google shows to you. It is not reliable info :). check backlinks in backlinkwatch or somewhere else (yahoo).

try site:www.yoursite.com in Yahoo. Google does not always display all the backlinks.

Agree with grg. Google often hides backlinks showing only some of them. Yahoo's sitexplorer is more reliable in this regard. Or you may try alternative services as this one:

Getting your blog url on high PR blogs and websites will eventually get you showing up with backlinks. It takes time with Google. Just keep working on ways to get backlinks and it will pay off in the long run. Even a page that has a PR0 could become a PR3 or higher someday giving you another quality backlink.

Agreed. Specifically setup G account and initiate Google sitemap. Once account setup/established, check back from time to time to see both inbound links found and internal links.

As for Yahoo, check linkdomain:mysite.com (replace with your site name) to see inbound links. :D

Yep, you could use webmaster tools to see your backlinks.
Google often hide them for unknown reason

    link:mysite.com is unreliable
Google Webmaster is also very unreliable

The first of these two show that I have 5 backlinks. Google webmaster shows that I have 185. However, I know the real number is about double or triple that. It doesn't list any directories I'm in, or even my friend's website home page, which displayed my link for about 6 months so far (and is not nofollow).

Google hides most of the links they actually have because they don't want anyone knowing anymore about their algo

Login to Webmaster Tools... Last time I checked they have a lot more backlinks listed than if you just do a link:domain.com

Apart from that it's what I'd call an essential tool for your website

It also depends on which datacenter you are querying.

Not really it is their algorithm.... Meaning they don't display your backlinks only sample of but it doesn't mean you don't have backlinks.. You have of course...:D

it would also depend on when links were created to your blog. it takes time for search engines to recognize your back links. If you use Firefox you can get extension called SeoQuest it will tell you google, yahoo and msn backlinks.
