hi, i am starting a small hosting business, i want to give my customer the option to register their domain through me, or transfer their domain name to my hosting company, i heard it takes $75,000 capital to become a registrar, so i am thinking to become buy a domain reseller package instead, is this a good idea? if yes, i have some questions, 1. which domain reseller is better for this kind of business, godaddy? enom? or reseller club and why? 2. as a domain reseller, do i own 100% profits for the domain sold through my reseller account? say, i sold 100 domain names at $7.99 each, do i earn $799? any advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you.
As far as I know, you will only have affiliate style rights as a reseller, and you won't be able to claim payments until transaction have passed there "veting" period. IMO, its a very inflated market as it is..... why bother?
1. which domain reseller is better for this kind of business, godaddy? enom? or reseller club and why? GD is good choice since it offer low price. 2. as a domain reseller, do i own 100% profits for the domain sold through my reseller account? say, i sold 100 domain names at $7.99 each, do i earn $799? No,coz you will buy domain at lower price that market such as $6.Then you resell it at $16.Then you earn $10 per domain sell.
I do reselling through wildwestdomains (now a part of GoDaddy), and we make a little money on it but we do it more because our clients demand it. You don't get to keep all the money. Sorry. The registrar actually wants to make money, too. We just mark up the price 5 bucks and offer it as a convenience to our customers. If they want me to be able to provide domain support we set it up in a retail account in their name and we make 5 bucks a year. We're completely open and honest with our clients and they still use the service more often than not. The "nots" we just send to Godaddy.
