Hi, I've been working on making a beauty tip and blog webiste, i have all my information, but i dont want to overwhelm myself seeing as i am the only one working on it, i need advice about what pages i could start with and continoue on from there. any advice would be helpful! thanks
Alright. How do you plan on the website being created? Static HTML? Custom PHP application? Wordpress blog with Static Pages? Drupal, Joomla!, or any other big CMS scripts?
yikes!! i'm just using webs.com, it helps me setup everything and such but i'm not sure what conent i should put on the site first. its free, but i am going to get my domain name and upgrade when i know i can handle it
Just start with a basic few pages. You wont be taken seriosly unless you have your own domain usually, however if your running just a blog, then your best bet is to use something like wordpress or something. Try starting something on blogger or blogspot, you can even put ad's on those sites.
well i was going to do pages with tips and advice, as well as a blog. i know that it depends, but wouldnt that create more traffic rather just the blog? I'm doing this to make money on the side with adsense, as well as seeing if i can make something come from it. I plan on getting a domain name i just dont want rush, i want to make sure that i am satified with the site before i invest in it.
Many tutorials on this forum, you try to open a thread about blogging and read it carefully. If still confused, please ask.
if you already have a plan about your website about to come, then you don't need to be confused about this thing. i think you need more idea before starting to make the site you planned to.
Go with Wordpress. It combines the static site and the blog. Find one of the free themes that relates to your content and make sure the content is unique. You are better off with your own domain name.
Hey There, Create a niche that you can write on. Such as blogger.com tricks, soccer, new technology. This way you aren't getting to broad.
Start writing a plan. Clearly define to yourself what exactly you want visitors to get out of it, and exactly what you want to get out it. Be very specific when doing this. Draw a flow chart of navigation on paper, and try to limit navigation to any page by just a couple of clicks. Budget your time, and then build your site to only accomplish those objectives. Let growth of the site occur when it's pressed for it. Sometimes a website can be extremely overwhelming. Over the years I have built a few massive sites that have taken months to finish. The biggest helper for me is make a prioritized list, and then just start checking off each item one at time. The plan can be equally important as the site itself.
try making an effort and get a domain name and a hosting package, install wordpress on it and your ready to go. there are many tutorials to help do all this things and trust me, it will work for the best. I was in a similar situation a while ago and it worked out great for me. good luck!
you should definatly try wordpress with your own domain and hosting its a bit daunting to start but once you have done it once its easy check you tube thats how I learned to do most stuff there are some great video tutorials, alternativley if you have your content already just outsource the work to someone else
Mate, if its a blog you're setting up - most likely you'd like to make changes to the design etc at a future date. In this case, stick to something universal like WordPress or Blogger - whose themes you can easily change as and when you want to.
If you are hoping to make money with adsense etc. you are going to need traffic to your website. For that reason alone, I would suggest that you start your site with your own domain, hosting and a wordpress blog. You'll find it very difficult to keep your ranking and traffic if you decide to change from a free sub-domain name later on. At least get yourself a domain name and point it to a blogger or wordpress blog, that way you keep your domain even if you opt for professional hosting down the road.
I'd say wodpress is the way to go, If you are not sure about investing lil bit of money on hosting and domain name (which I highly recommend that you do) you can start trying things on wordpress self hosted blog. jst head ovr to wordpress.com and sign up for a free account. then you can get yourself familiar with the environment and move on to your own thing.
Use WordPress there are many free templates available. You could ask someone to install and configure it for you for pages and adsense.
WordPress is a great piece of software to use for a blog and just start with some basic pages that a WordPress template will provide for you
Do you have a budget to start this project? If you are serious about this at least you should have some funds available to urchase your own domain and hosting. Included in most hosting packages will be software called Fantastico which will let you install a variety of scripts such as Wordpress with ease. If you are really serious about the project you may want to hire a Wordpress designer/coder who can create a theme that suits your tastes And to answer your question you may want to start off with a few decent beauty tips that really get your visitors involved and coming back for more, hire an article writer to create you some unique content and within a couple of months you may have a decent and popular little blog once you've learnt the ropes to running one. Hope this helps. Hannah
