    Look at this picture:

So this guy even made a reply in first 2 topics. Then he made one thread of his own. Have only '2' views (1st one si probabbly being him, if not even the 2nd one).
And guess what? He received 5 stars for that!!! BASED ON WHAT?

I keep seeing that trick on hundreds of boards. But using 2nd nick to give your thread a star, even here??? Or asking someone to do that for your thread if you do the same for his thread.

I would ban you buddy and you would never ever come back again!!!!

Actually it means nothing as you can vote/rate your own threads.

I just rated this post ;)

I never even realized till now that you can even rate a thread. What does it do? Does it bump your thread or something whats the big deal?

george101, Is that a message you ment for me?

If it is, then I am sorry you think that, but you are wrong.
Maybe I made this topic in wrong section and maybe it should be locked (or deleted).

But, promoting yourself by giving a stars or using double account to get a stars, or asking some 'friend' to give you stars, should earn you a ban on any board.
I keep seeing this kind of promotional sh*t on lot of boards.
It's not childish at all. Everyone will try to enter a topic that have stars (5 if it is possible) first or if it has lot of replies (views too). It's a rating system and it means someone thinks your topic is great.
But if someone make a topic, and only that person saw that topic, and yet his topic already has 5 stars, then I still think that person should be banned for promoting himself that way.

And again, I am sick of ppl using all kind of tricks, even here !!!

As I said, maybe this topic is made in wrong section, and that is why I tried to not answer here, but since you started posting, I just had to reply. At least because of george101's post.

lol.... why u so serious, if some1 want to rate his own thread as 5 stars, nothing is stopping him. if its a trick or something like that then the admin can easily disable it. even candidates in an election can vote for himself. its not a trick. even though i dont rate my own threads, there is no reason for u to be so furious about it, just let it be, who cares anyway

btw how old are u, actually? just curious

I am serious because I keep seeing that ppl can't get serious about anything.
Maybe admin don't care about it. And yes, even election candidates can vote for themselfs, but their vote is not exposed anywhere. While here, when you give yourself a stars, that is exposed. You just see that in section listings.
The reason why I was so 'furious' is because i come here to get informations and exchange oppinions with ppl.
I understand that this board is also used to make your business. But, really... promoting your new topic in that way by just giving yourself a star?

About my age...I am old enough. ....old enough, means that there is a great possibility I am pretty much older then you.

No I don't worry, I just don't like when ppl use it. Because it is unfair, and it is one of the lowest levels of selfpromoting.

For instance, go to some hight traffic board. And take a look. You will see 100's of topics that are flooded with only one post/topic. Then check how may ppl checked that topic (views) and you will see small numbers.
Then check some topic that has stars and you will see that topic has lot of views and lot of replies. It's connected.
Although, that is not the case all the time. But mostly, when you see some topic has stars, it is also a topic with lot of view counts.

As I said, topic creators noticed that, and they are trying to use that so much, so you can also see topic with only few posts (or only one) already got himself a stars (mostly 5 stars).

This is what aggressive marketing is.

You can say its blatant, professionally it has a subtle from.

But if it works and within laws(forum rules) then people are going to use it and then it becomes your responsibility to hold onto your wits about it.

    amit_at_digitalpoint, I agree with that.

But rules are not so clear and not so fair.
For instance, once I made 2 posts after eachoter (but they are not made in recent time limit). Yet I received infraction for that.
If you check this 'affiliate' section you will find 1 (at least) member which is flooding his own topic with the intention, while advertizing something. And yet, he wasn't warned for that.

Everyone can spam, problem is that ppl should undestand that some places are met for gathering information or exchanging experiance. And other sites (whole web) is left for aggressive marketing. But no, some ppl don't care too much about anything.

Well I am not the mod here, but I have been on this forum for some time,
and by my experience for a tiny percentage of things being unfair or bordering on unfairness, this forum is largely beneficial.

If you have any issues you can report it to mod is all what I can say, else you can enjoy the rich benefits and ignore other things.

I know all that. That is why I said that this topic should be closed or removed.
I made it in a momment when that person (with stars) pissed me off. I still think the same, but I probabbly made mistake for making the topic about it.

If some mod see this topic I hope he will erase it.
