I am extremely unhappy with Google

for the last few months I have been doing link building on my blog

These are the DoFollow links I have:
    1 x PR 7
    5 x PR 6
    100's x PR 4
and many more lower PR links

Guess what PR Google gives me - A measly PR 3 :(

    Anyway, I'm just not happy

I don't need more backlinks, I think what I needed was more time for Google to crawl these pages and re-index / cache them with my link on them

Next update (whenever that is) I should have PR 5 or 6

    it was 0
but I still think the quality of links should have been enough

You should consider more things on the linking page beside PR value...
Relevancy, total links, total external links, etc...

So I think you need to keep on working and building more links, just an advice ;)

I bet Google are really worried  3 is plenty enough to be ranking for whatever you want to be if you put your mind to it. why do you care it's not more? thinking about selling links or something hmm?

get on with actually making money from your "make money online" blog and not focusing on PR, and then it will come.

I'm NOT happy, either. Two of my sites dropped their pr,one from 5 to 4,one from 4 to 3,though I have done more backlinks than before.I begin to feel puzzled about Google's pr update.

Take a look at the links that your have gained... then think:

    1) how many other link outs on that page?

    2) How relevant are the pages?

Maybe it will make things a bit clearer? - maybe not, but it could do!

Anywayz, unless you are looking at selling links... don't worry too much about PR! I know, I know, its somewhat of a status symbol! - but seriously, dont worry! and dont try to rush things too much!

    1. I dunno, not too many - we are talking authority sites in the MMO niche

    2. They are 100% relevant (from MMO/webmaster/blogging blog to MMO/webmaster/blogging blog)

those are good links maybe there wasn't enough time to cache them all so wait for the next update

I suggest you wait for some time. The backlinks you have seem to give you more than just a PR3, but I guess you will have to wait in order to see a better PR.

i got a PR change from 0 to 4 with under a dozen links and only 1 of them was pr5..goes to show PR is not all about links to your site.

Relevancy also plays a key role, and if those sites are selling links a few of them might've been penalized.

JohnChow's site is actually banned from Google, do a search for his name and you will see that JohnCow actually comes up number 1. He had people linking back to his site with the anchor text of "make money online" and got it ranked number one to show a flaw in the way google ranks sites. After going public about it (stupid move on his part), his site was removed from the index and he had no PR. His PR later returned and has not moved since, he also sells links and reviews which google also does not like.

In fact not only links have affect on PR
i suggest you content is not unique
if you make enough with link building try with articles
