    I am a Java programmer. However, there was a Canada custom wanted to do a project which need PHP.

    So I learned PHP and MYSQL in one day, then made a demo for him in the other day. Now he let me do the project for him.

    So I will learn more and more PHP in the following days.

    PHP is by far nicer to work with than java.
    all the uncaught exception and mile-long class names would make me crazy on the long run.

    php is easy and rule of thumb is learn something each day

    There are tons of books and code on internet

    I can't quite agree with you.

    PHP is easy to build a simple web appilcation, however, when your appilcation is large and complex, I think Java is better.

    Java is much more powerfull than php

    PHP is easy to build

    The best tutor for PHP is php.net , you can download the php manual from php.net

    Download the .chm format it will be usefull for you.
