Hello, I am new to click bank and I am an affiliate. I have a few questions. What are my restrictions on where I put my hop link? Can I use facebook ads to promote a product? Is google adwords a good idea? What other things can you/ have you used to get a lot of sales on a product? Is there anything that I can do to get myself in trouble?(advertising something in the wrong place, false advertisement or anything like that) What are some mistakes that you see new affiliates making that I could prevent now? I know I have a lot of questions but I can't find the answers to these on the internet (I have been trying to learn about this for a while). It would be great if you can give me as much information as possible. Thank you.

You haven't looked hard enough. The answers to most of your questions are located within this very forum.

I find it a little curious that the entire internet failed you so miserably. Check out Google. :)

    - Yes you can use FB ads and Google adwords is a great idea but the learning curve is large. Expect to "invest" a lot of money learning the ropes. Lots of newbie affiliates make mistakes in how they use adwords (poor keyword selection, content network, bad ad copy, etc).

Wow, ever consistent in tone, but you surpass yourself sometimes, dlm. what a charming, helpful and constructive way to welcome a new member to the forum.

Let's see if we can do a little better, shall we?

This question is for Facebook to determine, not Clickbank.

It can be a very good idea who people who are experienced with it, yes. But it has a learning-curve that's typically long, slow and expensive. If you're new to Clickbank and to Adwords as well, I would strongly advise you to avoid it.

Article marketing (after learning how to do keyword research), linking the resource-box of your articles to a simple pre-selling site or blog, and from there to your hoplinks. You can do this virutally free of charge. If you become good enough at it, it's possible to make a living from it.

Yes, you need to be aware of the recently-changed FTC guidelines if you live in the US or have web sites hosted there. Basically, don't try to deceive anyone, ever, about anything, and you'll be ok. (Deceptive marketing doesn't usually work well anyway - people only imagine it does).

    1. Don't become an affiliate for products with high gravity.

    2. Don't become an affiliate for any product whose vendor has an "opt-in" on his sales page.

These two things, for many people, make the overall difference between profit and loss, success and failure. Most of the people who try Clickbank for a few months and drop out in disillusionment have got one or both of them wrong. They're the two most important things to know, in my opinion, and I wish someone had told me them clearly when I started - it would have saved me nearly a year's frustration and failure before I made a living.

No, I know - it's difficult. But that's what forums are for. :)

It's only people like our friend "dlm" above who seem not to understand this.

That's really good advice Alexa and I don't think it's just the noobs making those mistakes, especially regarding leaks on sales pages. I also would advice against PPC if you are new to internet marketing. Chances are that you will lose money with it initially, or be lucky to break even.
