I have gone through quite a few of the threads in this forum, great info here guys!

I am considering starting a Google Adwords campaign. I have selected three sites to target for now. I have written a campaign.

Do you advice starting with a lower CPM amount and daily budget at first to see how the traffic flows?
Also, If you set your daily budget at, say $2.00, is that the budget for the campaign overall or for each site you select?

I think that is common sense, but I am not sure how your selection affects your rankings (if at all).

Also, I assume your Adwords campaign shows up in Google.com search results as well?

    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

It depends on your needs and time you have to judge the correct price for your ads appearing on the site.
If you are targetting sites then these ads would not appear in Search results. It will appear on your targetted sites only.

So, If I just go with a basic campaign and do not select any target webppages/sites, my ads would show up on google.com search results only?

The budget is for the campaign. Everything under that campaign shares the budget. Once you hit the budget, the ads stop showing (although I believe google allows 20% over the the budget to help make up for slower days). So if you set a budget of $100, had 3 sites targetted, Site 1 might display $75 worth, Site 2 might display $25 worth, and Site 3 might display $0 worth, at which point the ads would stop.

For the daily budget, figure out beforehand what the max is that you want to spend daily.

As far as whether to start high or low on the CPM amount, it depends. If you're in no big rush to bring in traffic, I'd start low and slowly increase the amount until I started hitting my daily budget. After all, why be in a rush to spend more money than you have to? However, if you're in a rush to get traffic, start high, and then slowly lower the amount until you find a good threshold. Keep an eye on the clicks you're getting. If one site is delivering more people to you, it might be worth dropping one of the other sites.

Finally, I'm not sure on this, but I don't believe a site-targetted campaign will show up in the google results. I'm pretty sure site-targetted ads only show up on the sites you list. For your site to be listed in the google search results, I was pretty sure you needed a per-click campaign. I could be wrong on this though, in which case maybe someone can correct me.

Sorry I didn't get this in the last post. I think it's time for bed...

If you go with just a basic campaign (per-click), your ads will show up on both google.com and on other websites with adsense. You can actually break it down when viewing your Ad Group into "Search Total" and "Content Total", search being the ads that show up in google searches, and content being ads that show up on web sites running Adsense. You can also specifiy different bids for search and for content.

I would make sure you start with a low budget. I started with $30 for my first day ever and that went with in minutes and yelided no results :)

So I cut back, changed keywords around and experimented a little and worked from the ground up.

Check out where will my ads appear for more info. Have a look at some of the "You may also be interested in..." links at the bottom of that page as well...some more related info there.
