I am a graphic designer with bit of HTML and CSS knowledge. I like to design and implement some nice WordPress themes/templates from the scratch and distribute them free under CC license. I can do the design part, but I'm totally stuck on PHP. I just don't have enough free time to learn PHP. So, I was wandering if anybody is willing to collaborate with me on implementing my designs to new WordPress template without use of any existence theme/template code. I can provide design layout, graphics and HTML shell pages with CSS. Templates would be credited to both parties. You the coder and I the designer. Beside PHP, perhaps Java script may be required in some themes/templates.
Looks like there is no interest on my collaboration project. Unfortunate... It could have been good source of traffic and back links. However, I'm not giving up on this as yet.
Possibly, it's been a long time since I coded a Wordpress theme but I can probably remember. I assume this is just from HTML -> WP, I don't 'do' images. Dan
Sounds like its PSD>WP to me. Just fail to see why a coder would do this. Esp. given the write everything from scratch requirement. If its going to be CC, why not start with a BSD licensed theme or public domain?
Thanks Danltn and QiSoftware. I have sent you PM. shallowink, when I say from scratch, I am referring not to copy and use other people's free templates code. However, this doesn't mean you can't use public domain etc code. After all there is no need to re-invent the wheel if you can find one that's usable. Whatever code you use, you should be able to claim a credit for it. Main objective of this project is (beside offering people something useful and free} to build back links. A lot of them. It'll be done with credits in the code and every theme footer as a direct link designer and coders website. In my view this is a good opportunity for building back links without all the pains and headaches associated with such task.
Yeah but the only way to insure backlinks from the footer is via encryption. Else they will just remove them. Have heard free WP themes produces traffic though so that part might work out for you. Good luck.
That's very true. There will always be people, who are only interested in taking without giving anything whatsoever. However, there are still some nicer people on the planet of Earth. I still have some faith inhumanity. Encryption sounds interesting but that's beyond my realm. Something the Coder needs to consider. Thanks for your feed back shallowink.
