It depends what you want it for? Do you want a "chat room", or a "support chat" ? Either way I have you covered. On WordPress, there are a ton of plugins that offer "support" type chats. Check this plugin here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/liveagent/ If you want a more robust chatting option, like a "chat room" with smileys and avatars and stuff, check this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quick-chat/ Alternatively, if you want an easy chat room script and DON'T want WordPress, check this: http://www.freechatscript.com
Hi CandleKeep, I really appreciate your time and information. Actually, I am only looking for a place for domainers to chat with each other about domain names, I know forums like DP is a good place but instant chat way would be more appropriate in my case. Let me take QQ as an example, in mainland China, nearly every netizen has a QQ number, some of the netizens have lots of contacts, then they will create QQ group and invite the contacts into the group, start some interesting topics all group members might be inteseted in. Make sense? So, my question is: Do we have English version chat room like QQ group?
Ahh I see. I think there's a drastic shortage of chats in America to be honest; not just marketing / domaining chats, but all chats. Chats used to be very popular back in the day when AOL (america online) was very popular, but have since dwindled away to nothing. I am in a few private Skype chats, which is the closest thing I've encountered here. The prominent "meeting" places seem to be very small private Skype chats, or "groups" on Facebook. Why not create your own Skype chat, or use one of the tools to create your own chat? I'll join it.
nice idea CandleKeep, but it's a bit embarrassing that I have few contacts in both Skype and Facebook. Do you think members from DP will create groups like this?
I haven't heard of any, but I'm confident that if you build it, they will come. The popularity of chats in the USA was booming 10 years ago, it's a proven model of desirable communication. People love to chat and communicate by their nature. Why not create a chat, then create a thread inviting people to join; or otherwise create a thread and ask beforehand if people would be interested in participating?
I've been on IRC chats w/ affiliate marketers. I'm sure there must be some out there for domainers .. or maybe they just chat during domain conventions? NamePros / DNForum are two well regarded forums for domainers.
Nice to meet you here, gzed, and thanks for the comment though I am afraid it's not what I am seeking for.
This conversation is refreshing. I actually purchased chat dot us, precisely because I believe there's a need to have more chats. If you guys have any ideas on how to develop it, let me know. As for your question, perhaps the closest to a domain chat that you can get right now is finding a popular hashtag in Twitter and following and interacting through that hashtag in a twitter chat.
Oh perfect, that's just what I am looking for, thank you so much Env. Maybe it's due to the time difference between China and other countries, there are few members in the live chat this moment.
I checked my Mainstream Webmaster Boards list, and found that I signed up with InForum before, hope I still remember the login. Thank you, MUK3SH!
