buy sites for me and I will optimize them and after that we resell the sites. I run a company that has a webdepartment and for a long time I wanted to do this: buy sites and improve them. After a few months to sell them and cash the profit.

My strong points are programming and design but I need to work a little more on the marketing aspect of the business. Also if there is anyone interested I am also willing to start an iMarketing business/company - meaning a business where we offer promotion services to webmasters.

First of all, I am doing this (I mean I have people that do stuff for other people). However I consider this to be the first level on the food-chain - blindly doing programming/webdesign for others. I want to move to the next level - meaning adding some value to my services - meaning site optimization, site promotion and so on.

I consider myself a professional and I tend to believe that I know what I am talking about. I am looking for someone with capital and/or with skills that complement mine so we can make a succesfull business toghether.

He's right. I'm getting a a couple of sites built myself this week and the price tag is running over $1000 for a weeks amount of work.

You'd probably make much better returns than having to build up sites and selling them.

I do not want to highjack my own thread but I generally charge 10$/h for programming services, which means 400 USD per week and 1600 USD per month for a person that is working full time on a site. Which is a little, I mean if you take a site that is making 500 per month and you work 2 months with 2 people on it you spend like 6400 USD. If you double the original 500 USD and you get the site to 1000 USD per month profit - then you get the money back in 6 months and after you sell the site you make 5k profit. ROI is like 100% in 6 months...not bad I would say. The only problem is that you need a starting capital of around 5000+6400 = 11400 USD.

Another problem is, if people invest in sites, they may want to monetise it rather than sell it, as you propose.

    Monetise and sell...

This is a simple business model: buy a site -> improve -> increase income -> sell it.

Interesting topic so far....! Well I noticed recently a site that was for sell on ebay.co.uk! What made me curious was I recognised the domain name and remembered the products being sold on the site. I did a search on the domain name and I was right, the site was sold 1 month earlier with PR5. Check this out…the guy bought the site for £26 pound a month before. Being a true internet entrepreneur, he sold the same site a month later (this time at PR3after the PR update) for a whooping £2960 (I don’t exactly remembered the final figure). Do your maths….! BUT when selling on the site, he claimed to have 4 million unique visitors in 1 month and £5k income. When the site was sold the first time around, the previous owner never claimed such an atrocious stats and income. Now I don’t know this guy - he might possibly achieved what he claimed but I have my doubts. I honestly felt sorry for the third owner of the site having to fork that much money, then again if the site made £5k, he would be quids in by now but I have my doubts. Just shows how much money you can make buying and selling sites. This is a true story and I can PM you the URL if you are interested….! Moral of the story, do your own research before buying a site…!

I for once would be willing to invest for a project like this, but I strongly object to ripping people off – there are a lot of con artist out there. PM me what you have got in mind in terms of investment required etc etc. I am useless at other things...:)
