i have bought a site that uses joomla cms. i have to move it to my server, i need some one who can prove they know how to do this because the links should remain exactly the same. if this goes fine i have another site in html that i want to transfer to joomla pls pm me with price and work experience
I am not interested in doing this for paid, but have done this in the past. I am going to assume that you want the urls to remain the same because they are being rewritten using .htaccess??? If so, you just need to make you the .htaccess file comes along with the site. Basically, 1. Download all of the files from the directory that Joomla is installed in. Make sure you get the admin id and password that is being used for the site. After you move it over and get it running, change the password. 2. Export the database tables to a sql file 3. create a new database on your server and the import the tables from the database export. 4. create a userid and password that you want to use to access the database. 5. from the downloaded joomla files, look for the config.php and update the database, userid and password to what created on your destination server. 6. upload the joomla files to your server. 7. You will need to go to the joomla site to set the permissions of the folders after they have been updated. Just go to Joomla and look for the installation documentation. You will find the directories that you need to chmod. That should be basically it. Just did this for my vol fire department and it really was pretty simple.
I suggest you use this Joomla component: http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,665/Itemid,35/ Or go to www.joomlancers.com
