Thank you all for your comments, they were overwhelming to say the least, overally, Will Smith conveys good emotion throughout, but the storyline is very lackluster

I like the way the whole movie was shot... They really capured the lonely thing very well... The story line could have been better though!

I expected more of the film too: I heard of it in tv, and read in ewspapers and magazines how
good it should be. When i went in, i was a little bit disappointed. And i have to agree with
Storm-Crow, there could have been a better stroy line.

Personally, it wasn't really my cup of tea, the story wasn't too well formed

I actually liked the movie... It's sad and filmed to express loneliness. And I saw it when I was a bit tired. Exhaustion/loneliness sort of mix. So maybe that effected how I liked the movie. Anyway, it was awful that Samantha died. What's even more awful is that he suffocated her. He could have given her a lethal injection or something. And then again, he could have also pulled the trigger on the grenade then crawled into the little bomb-shelter thing. The writer of this movie really needed to spend more time on it.

    My rating = 4/5

another 3 months in production would have made this a totally different film.

No, the story line is played out. They just need to put that one in the cellar and be done with it.

I still hope there's a sequel. Perhaps the cure is only 80% effective and they are overrun by the diseased shadow-dwellers.

Or the whole thing got out because one person with it got out on the helicopters... Yeah, let's just completely copy 28 Days/Weeks later... why not?

You guys are making me wanna see 28 Days/Weeks Later... I guess that's why they made Blockbuster...

Anyway, any chance that the director from 28 Days/Weeks Later also directed I Am Legend?

I wouldn't see a purpose in a director intentionally reproducing his own work, however, I Am Legend was directed by Rob Bowman, and the '28 later' duet was directed by Danny Boyle.

Ah, thanks. But it was a decent movie overall. Even if it was immitating the '28 Later' movies.

It was. A 3/5, but could've been a 6/5 (there was so much emotion in that movie) with more effort.

I guess film makers are getting rather lazy now-a-days?

Ok, I do have to say right off that 28 days/weeks later is framed very closely (but supposedly not a direct copy) to the book "I am Legend" which was written in the 1950's, and made into several movies. (I do think its funny when people are like, "that's exactly like 'such and such' movie, when in reality the one they are comparing it to was basically a copy too). However, the current Will Smith version didn't keep things going throughout the movie. (And I did like 28 days later by the way).

I know there are already a lot of spoilers written about it, but I'll give the disclaimer to stop reading if you don't want to hear any!!

Ok, well the bottom line with this movie is that I think people REALLY don't like to have the main character, who they have faithfully sat through 2+ hours with, get shafted in (almost) every way. To lose his dog, his family, then die...um...why did we sit through all that?? For a voice over about finding a cure?

Just in case you were interested, there was an alternate ending shot - supposedly Smith (Neville) pushes the female rabies victim into the crowd of attackers and that is what they followed him for...showing they have some kind of basic instincts still, and then he and the girl and the little boy leave together.

Maybe it will be on the DVD...:D
