I came up with an idea, I have the domain registered. I have the idea out lined. I have the beginning cost lined out. It may seem very complex but once the ball starts rolling, I have a motherload of ideas. It's going to be a place where videos are going to be key but like I said there are many factors that will be added to the entire dimension. I am kinda hesitant to discuss my entire concept because I am afraid of ppl trying to steal my ideas. I don't mean to sound paranoid, but in the same sense I want to talk about it because I would love all the feedback I can get. So far, I have the idea, the domain, the creativity to make this a very cool place to go. What I need is the marketing/technical details and the road to thanks in advance Alison P.S I'll be active in this discussion for the remainder of the evening into the early morning or heck I may never sleep!
Your explanation of your idea is kind of vague to actually add in marketing ideas for your project.. You can start off with adwords for targeted audience.. but it seems like you need an innovative twist for your project (marketing wise!)
Thats the thing is that there are no need for the adwords just yet because it hasn't been designed as website. I am still in the phase where I want to see others get rewarded for their time into this project I am basically wanting to create a site that shows a whole new side of everything including the way we deal with everyday life with videos
A catchy name and slogan that you'll be using to brand should be perfected first of all. Has that been done?
Yes I have the name of the website but a slogan still needs to be chiseled. I have my own person slogan... "taking over the world, one domain at a time..." Since this is going to be a few things parked in one, where it kinda has its own genre for a little bit of everything. I am not quite certain what to loganize it as. I am still running through my head my possibilities.. What I am hoping to do is find ppl who might be remotely interested in talking to me at great lengths so I can outline the entire gist of this project. Thanks 8, I really appreciate your inputs. Its keeping me stronger in faith of my cool project
Generally speaking, a good website is one which is able to attract visitors and not just any old visitors but those which would remain loyal. First thing to do is you need to aim to make yourself known because you still be competing with the hundreds of millions website which are out there fighting for the visitor base. There are a few ideas in order to do that, one is to spend an insane amount of money to jumpstart your publicly campaign, the other would be to offer some freebies which would entice your visitors to spread the world out. The objective is to tease but not to show off too much, a virtual striptease as you may. There is a lot you can learn from how they market the 'Blair Witch Project', it is simply brillant. Gmail is probably another success story too and they probably gain more users than any other webmail service in so short a time and all within the beta period. They offered what no one else have and also because it was cool to be part of Gmail ahead of the others. In the beginning, only the elite would be able to be invited for an account and that really did the trick. Using the concept of the 7 degree of separation through their invite only campaign, they were able to gain users without spending too much in terms of publicity. Personally, I think that opening up to a limited beta test market is a good thing because if you are building a complex system, it would be inevitable that there are bugs in the system. It is a publicity nightmare if on the day of the product launch, your system goes down in flame with a big security bug or somehow did not work. Offering limited access during the beta would allow you to test the market and have them beta test your system to ensure it is relatively bug-free. People tend to be more forgiving with a beta system especially it is great for them to see using an exclusive system. Besides it allows you to gain feedback on how best to target the system and to include features which are relevant and what you may not have thought of. I guess I will stop now before I go off-topic. All the best in what you do.
I think I might open up a little more regarding what I am trying to do. I want to put a twist on the entertainment world. I am thinking a twist of of humor with the general public with a rating system & the opportunity win cash & prizes but instead of the common scenario of Youtube, creating a more stricter structure so that it doesn't get boggled with spam & is user friendly. Enabling the place to have the chance at weekly tallies. Not the typical thing of you have a "slim" chance to having a great chance.
How's this project of yours going to be different than what is being offered now? What's going to be the most distinctive feature? Would you share this with us?
This is my general idea. I am trying to create a marketplace for videos of two different arenas One for ppl who are looking to get out there to make humor, get rated and judged, win prizes and whatever else The other dynamic is creating a marketplace for businesses to come & find individuals to promote their products via the video.
are you goin' to provide the video recording yourself? I mean, do you rely on a third party to provide the video recording application or you have already embedded one in your site?
