I am in India, and my clients can't send me money on my PayPal recently.

They get an error message that says:
    SEMrush
"Were sorry. Were not able to complete personal payments to account holders in India at this time."

Anyone else seen it? As far as I know, its not a problem with my account, but some systematic problem. I sent them an email, but will get a reply in 24 hours.

You can only accept payment from international users

Indian PayPal user can't send money to another Indian user. You can use NEFT for that

@nihangshah Thanks for the info. But both my clients are International. Both are based in USA and have US PayPal accounts.

They cannot send you personal payments, but if they will send it as payment for goods/services, it would be accepted.
In this case paypal will charge you a fee something from 3% to 5% for processing.

@FTS! I think that may have something to do with it. I know that one of the clients was trying to send me the payment as a gift. So I will ask them to send it as payment for services. Thank you.

Indian paypal account do not accept personal payment/gift payment as per RBI rule. Its good if you accept payment as service. It will charge 3.9% + 0.30$ for every transaction. If your transaction is higher then the paypal fees will be lesser.

Have you linked your PAN, bank account or credit card?

If you haven't linked these then this can be one reason.

He is forced to any way link his PAN before doing anything. It is true mate that they need to charge and give you a receipt.

"Personal payments" are not permitted to Indian paypal users. You need to have the customer to make it as payment for services.

It's curious, but one of my clients was able to send me the money through his friend's account. So there is a problem with two of my clients, one of whom is an old client who has sent me money in the past too. Not sure what the problem is, but at least now I can tell my second client that he should consider sending me money through some other account etc. Thanks for the responses, everyone!

I am having this same problem. Paypal will neither let me pay as a good/service, NOR to a friend. It gives me this error message either way:

"We're sorry, but we can't send your payment right now."

I have emailed them but have not heard back yet....makes no sense and is incredibly frustrating even when I am willing to pay that fee!!

There must be something wrong with your recipient's paypal account. If their account active and not limited, try to send again later.
