No doubt this keyword is unpoplular and 4 other sites above your url on result page are providing same solutions, so there is no logical reason to surf your site.

optimize instead for "check ip address" - if you haven't got content, and its really important, then make some! surely its worth it if you want to rank highly?

You might rank #1 for your keyword/s but how often are they searched for?

The key word is very important. Hence the name KEY word. :D
Ranking at 6 is good for a popular key word.

I am at number 1 in google and had 396,798 hits in a year. I'd expect that to be the norm for a number 1 ranking in google.

It might be the keyword. Maybe not to many people are searching that keyword, thus less traffic then you predicted.

You can use inventory.overture.com to find good keywords. This site is screwed up right now so it will take several tries for you to get it to work. I find that it is more agreeable earlier in the day.

Maybe you should try to find a "keyword phrase or phrases" rather than just a keyword. It appears your keyword is not that popular. So try and find a keyword phrase or phrases about the middle of the road, not too popular and not too unpopular and see if that brings in more traffic. Popular keywords like others have said, are difficult to rank high in but it's not impossible to do. In your situation I think the middle would be more practical.

Nobody searches those keywords. Choose different ones. Most just choose "my IP" or "What is my IP"

Before targeting keywords you need to check the estimated traffic for that keywords. It's useless to target keywords that is not search by other user.

Change your page titles and content to target a keyword that is more popular. "Check you ip" doesn't get nearly enough hits to be useful even on the first page. Think of it this way, I could rank #1 for "banana poop popsicles", but if no one is searching for that on google what is the point? ;)

It's depended on how much people search on this keyword. You have to evaluate this point before too.

dear you have to optimize your sites according to the keywords reach, make you url according to the keyword too. you are in first page but not in first three position because mostly visitors click on first three or four sites and you are in 6th position so increase your position and also promote your sites in facebook and other social media too.
