I am in Dire Need of Some Advice... College Problems

I am in dire need of some peoples thoughts and advice on the following scenarios.

I am currently 20 (about to turn 21) and am way ahead in my major... I attend a credited University in the United States which is ranked in the top 50 schools in the country.

My aspirations by the way are to be an entrepreneur and possibly get into real estate development.

    Here are the scenarios .....

Scenario 1 : Finish my undergraduate in 3 years (the degree is Marketing) and graduate with honors this May and start Grad school that upcoming August 2009.

Scenario 2: Finish my undergraduate in 3 years and stay this summer and one semester in the Fall of 2009 and get another degree in Economics ... So I will have graduated in 3.5 years with 2 degrees in marketing and economics. Some of the grad schools I like to get my MBA have enrollment in January so I could start my MBA in January.

Scenario 3: Stay 4 years, triple major in Marketing, Economics, Management and maybe take a few grad school classes in that final semester and transfer them to my grad school choice which I would attend in August of 2010.

I am very torn because I really just do not know what to do, the economy is in the toilet right now but I do not want to miss the upswing because I was still in school obtaining degrees I might not even use.

I am looking for anyone who has thoughts or ideas that can help me out...
    Thanks

If I were you, taking into consideration the current situation in the economy with high level of unemployment, I would rather stay for 4 years and go for the triple majors. That way, it will give me the edge when seeking employment later part in the ever increasing competitive job market.

    drop out of school!!! Now
If you want to be an entrepreneur you learn nothing about it in school. I have learned everyting I know outside of school.

Seriously drop out of school. Unless you want to get a job which specifically reguires a degree. Getting a job is hard and experience is what they want not a degree. If into marketing you can learn everything right here for free

My advice to anyone is to not go to college unless you get a scholorship or like to party. It seriously is a complete waste of money. I wish I would have dropped out of college. college will always be there. Learn from life experience. Travel the world before going back to college you learn so much more in the real world.

I appreciate both your responses but ErikJ--- an education is a gift and is something that will never lose value... I agree, to be an entrepreneur you do not have to have a college degree... but those degrees help later down the road and are always something to fall back on.

    Hey Burberry,

Yes, you are right, the degrees do help later down the road. I know that for a fact, especially if you have to get a corporate job of some kind or plan to build a corporate business.

I do hpwever agree that you also need hands on experience and what I call street smarts. This you cannot gain in a classroom.

Given the present economy, the first thing I'd look at now is, can you afford to go to college and payoff your loans. This economy situtation may not blow over for a couple of years or so. That's the time you finish up isn't it? If so, and you have school loans to pay off, will you even have a job to be able to do that?

    See what I'm saying?

I'd be almost tempted to learn all you can in the business first, and when the economy starts to straighten out, then go back to school. This way you can start building your business now and gain knowledge at the same time.

    Hope this helps ...

Well then I'd go with the second choice. That seems to give you more value and wrth in the end, plus will probably get you into the upswing quicker. ;)

You are lucky that you have the opportunity to stay in school with your parents help.I like Scenario 2 ..
I think it would be good to have two different degrees so if you can't find a job in one you can fall back on the other one.

Some employments require formal qualification and degrees and it is better to continue your studies. Take the option three if you have sufficient time and resources at your disposal; otherwise second one looks good. Wish you the best :)

When i left school years ago as long as i could read and write i was happy and i am still of the confiction you do not need higher education to make it in the business world.I admire people who do go on for greater things like degrees etc but i always wanted to be my own boss and finally achieved it nearly 4 years back when i was layed off with a nice golden handshake and then the dream started.Am i happy you bet.

All the very best in what ever route you chose.

I agree with the last 2 posts if your going to be an entrepreneur be an entrepreneur if not be a corporate b@#ch and build someone elses dream.
And I also have a college degree and am using it but looking back I wish I would have dropped out and traveled the world instead would have learned a hell of allot more about business and life.
