I need a gas prices website. It must be self-updating. I know this can be done because I've seen several of them that self-update. Does anyone in here know how to do this?
self-updating? you mean not user driven but staff driven? Thats gonna be impossible...no site could devote attention to that everyday unless it reflects only one city. GasBuddy is pretty good user driven site though. (add .com to that...wont let me post links)
There are plenty of people tat can do this. I've seen their work. What I mean by self-updating is that the gas prices are in real time. I won't have to put them in myself. Here is an example of one such site: http://nationalautomotive.info/
Ok, not a programmer here, but it looks like you need a auto-update feed (rss or something). Give me a few minutes, I'll see if I can find something
http://www.scriptsbank.com/Detailed/4486.html Maybe? I don't know, I found that. Let me know if that helps you out. Thanks Mike P.S. I'll look some more when I have more time
Yeah, I saw this one already. The problem with it is that it isn't self-updating. Meaning, I would have to update the gas prices manually as they change. That would just be way too much work. And it wouldn't service the people in the way that I would like it to.
Any programmer can create a script that will auto update itself, and I'm sure you can find one quite easily on here. However, its the content you're going to have the problem finding. You need websites with the information to auto update from, so basically a website that already does what you want doing. I can create a script that will auto update from feeds etc, but I can't make something that will automatically update the gas prices without any form of raw data.
