They always say that you cannot be punished for links that come to you, so I am thinking of trying an experiment to see what happens. Take a site, and buy 500 irrelevant links to it, and I will do some blog commenting on sites that are irrelevant to it's topic, and then I will watch the pr from today to the next pr update and see what happens I think a few of us should try that experiment
I dont know.... i ve heard to many times , quality is much more important than quantity, then again i may be wrong... i will wait for your results!
relevency is very important so if you want to get high ranking in serp, try to get backlinks from relevent sites.
I tried it. Now I'm enduring the 90 penalty for more than 3 months and counting.... They say that links to your site cannot harm you as your competitors can buy them, but THIS IS NOT TRUE. Anyway, take the experiment and let us know about the results. The results will be visible in 3-4 months after you buy them and keep them online!
My guess is PR3 max, I have my reasons to believe that google can-and-will give you a penalty based on links pointing to you.
Do you have any control on the links pointing to your site? Google doesn't even care where your backlinks coming from. they will just pick up the important ones.
But having a number of links on bad neighborhood may affect your SERP. If hundreds and thousands of bad links like po*n is pointing to your site it may make google think about them. by the way I am also waiting for the results. Lets see what is going to be happen with OP. Regards Amjad Khan
No control, but if you believe google's statement that your competition can't sabotage you - I think you are sadly mistaken. If someone with the right resources wants you removed from the serps I think they can.
You lead...and we will follow....if successful! Haha But I think that the results might not be good. Even if it did result in a small increase in PR, I think that the possibility of getting penalized by Google is not worth taking the risk.
which site have you got the -90 penalty on and for what phrase/s? can you post or PM me the link I'd like to see it?
I think links to a site, no matter from where they come, will never hurt that site. If google used to penalize sites for backlinks, then people will build thousands of backlinks from bad sites, for their competitors in order to penalize them.
