I am going to register a domain name with Google in it. Is it legal?

I am going to register a domain name with Google in it. Example: Googleadsense-helper.org. In that, I am going to give useful original information about google adsense. Since lot of people will visit this and I am planning to earn the revenue from this site through ads(may be adsense itself). Is it legal? Will Google sue me because of this, since I am using their intellectual property in my domain name and market it?

Thanks for all your answers in advance. If anybody has something related to this question in their mind please share.

If it conflicts Google's interest in any way you will have to give away that domain. For small sites I don't think Google would care much.

Why run the risk? No one builds a site without seeking success. The more successful the site, the higher the risk. If they come at you, you will lose the domain and all the effort behind it.

I know someone who has lost two domains (not to Google) under rather dubious circumstances because the cost of defending his rights was simply too high, had to walk away because couldn't afford the legal fees.

Title tags are far far more powerful than keywords in a domain any way.

If the idea is the same you are gonna go with as you said then I think it's gonna be fine. But make sure you don't share some bad tricks there for boosting adsense income.

It's trademark infringement. If you don't have Google's permission to use their mark, then there will always be the possibility that they will take the domain away from you without any compensation.

I doubt google would let you register a site on their adsense program for a domain name beginning with GoogleAdsense. . . .

That's a bit like jumping in front of a train and daring it not to hit you!

I would not expect to hang on to this domain if Google gets wind of it. You could even face legal consequences.

You may be "lucky" and stay under the radar, but by definition that also means your site is a failure.

Thanks for the reply by each one of you. I have decided to drop the idea of domain name. I have confident in my SEO so I bring any domain name. But rbucich has now raised a new issue!? Will Google sue even if I use their name in the TITLE H1 tag of my index page?

I wouldn't just drop the idea, at least pop G an email asking for permission and informing them what you intend to do. If they refuse, then drop it.

The fact that somebody else is doing it and get away with it should not encourage you. At the end of the day youre at Google's mercy. Google may or may not take it away from you, but they can if they want to.

I know someone who bought a domain name that included the name of a major telco, and within a month or two, was receiving letters from their legal team, and basically sent 2 pages of past cases of people they've sued over breaching their Trademarks and registering domains like that

I still think that this bloke wasn't going to trade under that name, nor do anything apart from redirect the domain to his other site, so I don't know how you'd have gone in court, but at the end of the day, people like Google have an entire legal team, you have nothing, and will cost you $50k + and may not even win in the end

do it. call it tohellwith "substitute name".com. See what happens. You cant tell me that i cant build a site called howfacebookscrewsyou.com, tell the truth, provide proof and get thousands of people there and have to ask permission. Do you live in america or not

    Different situations.

You can publish your complaints about howfacebookscrewsyou.com because it has been determined that your first amendment right to free expression trumps their trademark rights in that case.

This is quite different to starting a web site called googlewhatever.com and piggybacking on their brand building for your own business purposes.
