    That was funny :D

But Berkshire don't thing about big cash at the begining , for example I started Polish adult website and sometimes had 4 000 unique visitor's / day and monthly I get about 250PLN = 65 USD so don't think about thousand's and count each penny you get ;)

And change template , here you go for example http://www.phpbb3-styles.com/

I don't think it is possible to achieve 1000$/month for a forum. And I'll give you a few reasons:
    - forums have very low ctr
    - you can't put too many ads, because members will leave
    - the only accessible niches don't have high CPCs, in the health, finance niches competition is too huge

I have a forum with 8000 members and 130k posts. It took 2 years to get it there.
    How much I'm making? 60-70$/month :p
I don't want you to feel discouraged, but I suggest you focus on creating a website (about one of your passion) and develop that one into an authority site.

Thanks. I love it when I get good advice from people in the game. I like your websites. Do you backlink each of the sites to each other? If so, I figure that should help SEO (def shouldn't hurt), but I'm not sure how much it would help since they are different subjects. How do the earnings between the forum compare to the non forum sites? Oh emo...i went through that stage many many years ago. Rivers Cuomo you are my hero.

I agree that you should consider what your members do and do not do and are interested in. Forex, however, seems to me like a no-go for Warren Buffet fans as it is more like Day Trading in Stocks, and Mr. Buffet is a Value Investor. He promotes buying solid companies that will increase in asset worth which will support a high stock price in the long run. His ideal stock is the one he will never sell, because it continues to make better sense to hold on to it.

Maybe some kind of affiliate program where you sell company reports or something. Good luck!

Okay, another thought. Don't push monetization too heavily on the site itself, but, collect email addresses into a mailing list. And, market your affiliate products that way, maybe even in the form of an ezine or something. So, your forum becomes, actually, a lead generation machine.

Also, a typical way to get people to register as a member (or join a list) is to offer something for free. It is easy enough to get a PLR ebook or have one ghosted for you.

Hmmm, wonder if I should start working on my forum projects more here. Naw! LOL.

I found static sites to perform the best, judging by ctr and earnings. Also for sites you can put as many ads as you want, since there is no interaction and you don't expect the visitors to return daily.

Blogs have smaller ctr, but they compensate through link sales esp when they have authority. And I'm not talking here about the DP 'link sales' section. :p They require more effort from your part, unless you are a great writer with a strong digg account.

Btw I have a link to my travel blog somewhere on the emo site. I don't remember exactly where, or I would have taken it down because the bounce rate is about 100% and the visitors stay about 3 secs, it also didn't do much for my serps. Scene kids don't like to travel too much it seems :)

You want to make $1000 with http://www.berkshirehathawayforum.com/?????

I would suggest changing to vBulletin for starters and working on content.

Before you try to monetize offer quality.

Also take a surf over at communityspark.com

I wish you luck! That's a good goal to attain.

Warren Buffer's stock price is actually a lot more than $1000, lol
