Ok I know Google frowns upon buying anchor text links

I am going to do it --- for the sole reason of getting to the top of the search engines

    Yeah that's right!

    A rebel!!

I have about 700 links to my site all from blogs and articles, and just junk... my competitors have about the same, plus they buy links in directories etc.

Im basically after anchor text do-follow links

How can Google know I bought them? Are they going to call American Express and see if I bought them?

Has anyone here been penalized from buying links before, or heard of anyone being penalized???

    What's you site .... got a URL ?

Rule Number 1. Don't share your link if you are buying links.
Rule Number 2. Don't tell DP members.

You really think Google will sit there all day and phone American Express up every second asking the same question about a certain site, then another, then another ... etc... No. They don't. So you're safe there.

Basically, I believe they suss out paid links by certain "signatures" that are left behind (i.e. Some text adverts have hidden messages left in them like this: <!-- blah -->)... just those little things it picks up on. :)

Yeah im back and forth on the whole buying links

I have been building links for like a year straight and im still like #20 for my keywords

But I'd hate to waste a whole year's worth of work... as well as what's to come

I'm going to skip buying links (for now anyways)

So as they taught us in school, about that crazy rabbit & that turtle.... SLOW & STEADY WINS THE RACE

I MISS YOU ARCHIE BUNKER.... AMERICA HASN'T BEEN THE SAME!!!!!!

To date, Google has only been penalizing the sites that *sell* the links. This prevents a competitor from being able to easily damage another site's rankings. So for link buyers, the primary risk is that you'll end up buying worthless links.

The bad thing is that your competitor might report your site to Google via Google webmaster tools.

Buy links, why? Because it works and your competition is doing it so if you want to compete you have to pay to play. If Google doesn't want YOU to do it then they should stop rewarding your COMPETITION for doing it in my opinion.

Maybe someday the search engines will actually put weight into how real people actually surf you site by gauging bounce rate, time on site, and return visit rate instead of this silly idea that backlinks can actually gauge how good a site is. Then heaven forbid you would have to actually build a good quality site that people actually want to use more than your competition. Imagine the horror many webmasters would awake to if that really happened.

You know rumor is that Yahoo recently applied for just such a patent. If they can actually successfully implement such an algo while Google continues to put all of it's weight on backlinks Yahoo might just be able to regain some market share, and do we dare even say even beat Google?

What .... and you think that these factors can't be tricked ?

How about I send 1000 000 bot visits at 1 second intervals ?

Was going to write more .... but that one action would cripple a site ....

Sure, you can use thousands of different IP's to crawl your site at a particular interval but that wouldn't look very NATURAL would it? You would have to have these IP's crawl other sites in a natural looking way as well. It would be kind of a dead giveaway if the same IP's are only crawling one site over and over day after day and nothing else.

Trust me, it's much harder to try and mimic a real person naturally surfing a site than it is to buy a handfull of back links.

not much of a rebel, not 1 place is on the front page of google for a competitive keyword that didn't buy links. Shit they used to say to get on yahoo directory and that costs $299 a year!

Google won’t penalize you but if you buy links from a paid directory and it’s obvious that the directory is tacking money in exchange for links Google will just de-value the directory. IMHO

Google will penalize people that are selling links...not the ones that are buying.
Buy them if they are cheap and relevant to your site...otherwise, it's just time and money waste.

Buying paid blog posts is the way to go as long as you do your homework and make sure all the blogs are relevant.
