I have a joke website that is getting over 200 visitors a day, but no matter what I try, I cannot find a way to monetize it. Do any of you affiliate gurus out there have any suggestions or tips so I can take advantage of this traffic? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Keep adding new argicles and contents to your website, improve the ranking in search engines, and apply for some affiliate network, get some offers related to your website, build some quality landing pages for the offers to attracte visitors, you will make some bucks sooner or later!

    Good luck!

@CPAcore: I have done most of what you have suggested. I am ranked #2 for the keyword hilarious jokes, which gets several thousand searches a month, and rank well for a few other related niche keywords. Maybe I need to look into landing pages...

@~~~~: Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into those ideas tomorrow.

How are you tracking those visitors? It sounds like some of that may be bots and spiders. If that is the case, then you may not be reaching real people who would translate into money.

@brandonconnell: I don't think that bots are spiders are an issue, since about 95% of the traffic is generated organically from Google. Besides...I have no complaints about the traffic - just the fact that I can't generate any money from it.

Ok, but is that traffic targeted? If so, how? I am asking because if it were live people, they may not be interested in any affiliate programs or chitika/adsense ads that may be on the site.

If they are targeted visitors, you need to make sure that your monetization methods are obvious. Slap an amazon carousal near the top or on the side, put an ebay product stream in there, put an adsense banner across the middle of the article/joke. You can't place these things out of the way if you want people to click them.

Most of the traffic is coming from Google from the keyword hilarious jokes. Unfortunately, kind of tough to get targeted traffic for any ads from this type of keyword or site. That is why I was hoping that someone may have a suggestion that has worked for them with a similar site.

Do a google search for "humor blog" or similar variations. Look for blogs that have comments open, do not require account signup, and allow the name/email/url field. Use yourname@yourkeyword in the name field, and you will bring in more targeted traffic that way. Because these will be people you engage with, they are more likely to turn into profitable visitors for you.

Are you able to blog comment on 100 blogs a day or so? It might sound like a lot, but this is your best source of targeted traffic and immediate goal producing traffic.

You don't have nearly enough traffic to monetize that well. I noticed you still have a 4 million+ alexa traffic rank.

content content content.... add some to your site, and have a place where "members" could add jokes, and I say "members" because you should make a place where someone could be a member by adding their e-mail..... thus building a lists where you can advertise, and get better ads.....

I am not worried about Alexa. I go off my Google Analytics, which tells me I am getting 200-250 visitors a day, most of which is coming from Google. I never claimed to have a high Alexa ranking or to be getting thousands of visitors a day. I am getting about 6000 a month, and feel I should be able to generate some kind of income from this much traffic.

I don't mind. I haven't made anything to date with this site. I tried CPALead on it for a couple of months, but it didn't generate a dime. Tried Loudmo and Pinball as well, and still nothing. I know I am not going to get rich off 200+ visitors a day, but I would think it should generate something every few days.

exactly, I'm not saying you're going to be a millionaire, but you should be able to at least get a couple of bucks every month if not every week, if you have 200+ visitors and at least 5 people a day click or enter their zip, that's a 2.5% conversion rate.... that's really low, try adding content, it should help you get more traffic, and with a few selected key words, help you climb higher in google

You should be worried about Alexa because they actually provide an accurate description of your traffic. Google however can be flawed because of the way that they present the traffic. It doesn't make sense that you have 200 unique REAL visitors a day and an alexa traffic rank that doesn't match.

Any chance you can attach a screenshot of your analytics? It would help to figure this out and make sense of it.
