I get fairly good StumbleUpon traffic, but it almost never converts. I've heard the same thing from lots of other people.

yes, traffic from the social bookmarking is just like Boost up and down, now days it's like just counting for back links, will have to look forward to the new ways

    Hey TonyP,

This is normal for me which is why I dont depend upon
    Stumbleupon lol.

Submit to other social bookmarking websites but make
each content unique so you have the chance for more
    traffic to come your way.

Also choosing which category that your website links
fits into is crucial so experiment with that also and you
could almost double or triple your traffic.

Try to create curiosity in your headline also so that it
    increases your click throughs.

    Yours,

SU for conversion is terrible, but for branding and exposure purposes it will bring some people from the niche you tagged the submission with.:)

I don't get much traffic from StumbleUpon or the other social bookmarking sites either, but I'm strictly using these as back link builders so I don't mind that.

The individual page that is "liked" can make all the difference. That landing page is key to the success of an SU campaign, and if it's substandard then no one will care enough to like it as much as you.

A GREAT page full of useful and unique content can and will generate more then just the home page of the site. A FUNNY page will get more traffic then one with just unique content, though none of that traffic will convert.

I have one page with well over 5K SU hits, it's an interactive Tarot page done in ASCII (celtic cross). When I personally "liked it" it only got 50o or so hits and only a small handful of people liked it. I thought that was good enough and left it at that. Months later a real SU user stumbled across it and "liked it" another time, after that it was getting hundreds of hits daily... I have other ASCII tarot pages which have only gotten dozens of hits through SU... so it's really all a matter of happenstance.

Though, through personal experience I must say, that the funnier or funner the page the better it does, and the better the quality of the page the better, but again, informative pages will convert better, as the stumblers are less inclined to be looking for just fun pages, which they hit one after another and just eat up webmaster resources.

Either way, most SU users are just looking for a quick fix, and that generally does not include clicking on links and in most cases most will never click on ads.

Best is to generate quality content .If u generate quality content your pics in traffic will soar as more peple will stumble it . Also stumbling your own content is considered as spam by stumbleupon.com so only stumble quality articles.
