I am really confused, the past one month i've been getting submissions from quite good sites and reputable members from DP but when i check that they have not paid i just have to wait till they end up paying but they never do and so i have to delete those links. Now in the past 2-3 days the flow has gained some more momentum, 2-3 sites from quite reputable members here have been added and no payments, is this some flaw ? Or are they using some bot submitters? or did they hire some Submission service to do that? I am still confused and i don't want to take any one's name here~
I know a reputable(!) and very known member who PM'ed me to add 3 links on my directory, after adding I sent him PM about payment. .... ...... ......... And he did not payed yet
Maybe your directory is not working properly.Make a new submission yourself and see if your directory redirects to paypal etc..
This was discussed yesterday, here's the thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=704903
Or may be its not the original reputable member who is submitting the sites and not paying, i once got 4 sites submitted which belonged to a good member here and those were not paid, and when i asked him whether he had submitted those, he said that he didnt. Might be some one else submitting it to decrease the reputation of the reputable member. This is my guess, might go wrong too.
Hello... These are usually one off 3 reasons... 1. Automated script that has your directory in the software 2. Shady Directory Submittion Company 3. Some fly by night seeking free links We all go threw this and the only way to solve this from happening is to make submitters go to paypal first then the info is sent after payment is made... thx malcolm
Why bother? Just delete the link man! Chill... if someone had to make the payment it would have been made during submission, there is no use waiting.
If i get a submission without payment i leave it sitting for around 2 days, incase the submitter contacts me and something had gone wrong, after that i delete.
Its happened to me only Once in the last 1.5year, that too the submitter contacted me within an hr of the submission. Two days is a good time to keep the submission waiting though.
Perhaps I was one of those reputable members. A while back I bought some manual submissions to FREE directories. John Rang contacted me and informed me that the bugger was submitting to his paid directories without payment. It happens I guess.
Yes i guess that the slogan.... "we will submit your directories to various paid directories" Also means we will "spam them" and hopefully get ya few submits Whom owns directory dice? thx malcolm
Unfortunately it happens - if your directory got on a list for a submission service that could be why your getting hit. If it is a site with a legitimate email address you might send them a nice email. I usually just look at the url to see if it is a site I might want to take a look at. I usually do not approve unpaid submissions that go through the submit page. I delete them in nearly all cases. I will get some requests from people with non profit sites through the contact form that I do look at for free inclusion, but I am pretty selective with them.
I don't think there is a problem with my script since i got 2 submissions that paid off recently, unfortunately when i speak of sites by reputable members its just not only one member right, why would someone be destroying repute so many other members?, and some of the submissions are quite quite original. Well i as well think its a good idea to delete at spot if the payment is not spot. Just thought to clear my confusion~ @Malcolm1: I think Directory Dice belonged to Coolweb , not sure who owns it now~
Yes i contacted him thx... Seems his friend now owns it and used a DP submission service and needless to say $6.95 will get ya only so far lol ... thx malcolm
Thanks Mikey. I think thats the way we should handle things like this. And also thats why all those so-called manual directory submission services suck They say- its 100% manual submission - but in reality - they use automated/semi-automated submission programs.
This is a problem everyone with directories faces. The automated bots do eventually target you and you get lots either of attempted spam submissions or what seem like good quality but unpaid submissions. Delete the unpaid ones immediately and tighten-up your site's security.
