I run my own little business making jewelery for a couple of shops in my area, and for months now I have been toying with the idea of building my own website to display my designs.
I got helpoff a friend whoknows how to build them through Notepad, but they could not help me when it came to getting a domain name. I have built the website (6 pages added to it) and I need now is a domain. I know I have to buy one, but do I have to buy loads for them to fit on all pages, or do I just buy one and it works for my other pages?

    Do I make Sense?

You just need to buy a domain, get a web hosting account and that's enough. I suggest you try some testing, get a free hosting for eg 000webhost.com or freehostia.com to get familiarized with things first before trying on a paid account.

    Just one will do.

You can buy myjewelleryshop for example, and your pages could be like

myjewelleryshop.com/productx.html and myjewelleryshop.com/producty.html and so on.

You could also allow your customers to buy online, although most people will want to see the real thing before buying.

so all I do is buy one domain name for my first page and it will automatically link itself to my other pages?

I went onto those websites that you said but they tried to charge me even though I ticked the "free hosting" box so I avoided that.

I am not going to be selling from my website to begin with, its just some thing I can display my items on e.g. when someone buys an item my web address will be in the box so theycan see what other items I make etc.

Domain name is definitely not free, but for a start you can get a subdomain from the free hosts that I recommend above. They are definitely free. Or if you don't mind the hassles you can go to register.com to get a free one year domain. But be careful not to choose any of the add on services and also once registered, disabled the auto renewal command.

It won't automatically link itself- you need to create a site like that.

You have a homepage like myjewelleryshop.com. From there your visitors can click on links that they are interested in- say product x. Product x's design and information is located at say myjewelleryshop.com/productx.html.

The design of the home page and the creation of further pages are totally up to you.

You learn first, also to make it faster you can always get a free template from say www.oswd.org/ and start modifying from an existing design, this will save you a lot of extra work.
